Hey all, Now this is really lousy of me as I have never manage to make i even to watch and support one match - and now I am here to ask for a bit of help. Do any of you know any good centrally located outdoor football pitches? I would like to say that I was playing. But I have STILL yet to wear in my unworn footie boots (shemeful). I heard this one today:

I needed to post this somewhere as I am a little weirded out by it all. About 5 years ago I was tracing my Black South African mother's family history. We had found out that my mother's grandmother had married a White English descendent of the owner of a South African Reserve. He had left his family to be with her I think. We managed to trace a ship to where we believed his family were from Durham. This was a surprise enough as my mother believed she was the first of her family to move to the UK, she had now found out that she was merely returning after many generations, to her family's home. Well after putting out a search those 5 years ago, I since moved from our home in the Midlands to East Dulwich. I have found out today that we have managed to go back further to find that this ancestor of ours was actually born on Elm Grove, Peckham in 1841 and was baptised in St Giles, Camberwell. It's so odd as having never heard of this area before moving South, I since find out that this is where part of my family originated.

I really am loving the stories on here. It is so nice to hear so many positive and lovely stories. Talking of buses I have two stories of nice people. One was a drunken accidental bus trip to Penge one Christmas. I had fallen asleep only to be woken by the bus driving who was shouting as this woman dipped her hand into my handbag and ran off with my purse. He got out of his carriage and chased after down the street with me running behind him and the women thought better of it and dropped it, which he fetched and handed back to me. And more recently, a lovely lady work me up on the 176 after falling asleep on the way home from work and right at my exact stop!

Even to his voicemail, just in case something happens, then at least there is a record of it. I think it is terribly sad that as a woman I have to do this and have to find ways of protecting/preventing an attack. I do sometimes wonder if guys (drunk or not) realise how scary it is to be approached, benignly or otherwise. I also feel terribly sad that because of a few men out there behaving in such ways, the knock on effect is that is causes other men to feel wary about approaching women.

Yeah! Finally a thread that doesn't contain moaning about not being allowed plastic bags or moaning about being served the wrong kind of Barcardi. I am getting tired of the unfunny, miserable bah-humbugery that seems to prevail on here at the moment. One of the biggest good deeds I can think of is by one particular forumite who has given up her time to coach some of us feckless ladies into football and fitness. I joined not knowing what to expect and even now I am still in admiration for how positive the whole experience has been and how much it has touched so many people on the EDF.

After spending a really tedious day at work I may have (mistakenly) decided to read some threads other to my normal ones... On god's great earth, how depressing are a lot of these threads. People moaning and whinging about really petty things - just reading them has made me want to reach for the gin. Why is everyone so moany? I thought ED was a happy place? (Or is this only when fuelled by promises of ED Drinks and Curry nights). Surely everyone should be thankful that they have plenty of friends, plenty of food and drink, and a lovely area to live in. Now please... be thankful and stop moaning! :))

With regards to repetitive songs/people and particularly during the Christmas (selling) period. Beginning with all these totally banal and empty meaningless shite churned out by the likes of X-Factorites and High School Musically Challenged but in addition, even some of the more established artists, Elaine Page, that Barryman, Bette Midler, and even Annie Lennox. I had a moment this morning after watching 3 minutes of these non-stop Christmas adverts and began to really and truly wonder what the feck has happened to the human race... this has to be the start of the end, The Apocalypse must be nigh!
