  1. Does anyone know if the 37 buses arunning (albeit a diverted service)
  2. Even in my own company I can't say it's a consistent approach. Consulting staff allowed to WFH and Admin staff generally made to come in come hell or high water (maybe that's the next challenge - this snow business is getting boring anyway.) Consulting staff get 10x ???'s that Admin do. Then we also have: One Admin staff member alllowed to stay at home while another made to take a taxi in. Some sort of standaardized common sense approach would be nice. But yes I know it all depends on where people live.
  3. FYI. Trains are delayed at London bridge to ED and Denmark Hill. Mainly due to lack of drivers.

  5. It might if I have a problem with my legs, which unfortunately I do right now. Normally I am all up for good old fashioned "use your legs" mentality. Only now do I realise that that isn't always an option for some.
  6. Anyone know how the trains are doing back to East D? I really would like any excuse to go home early right now. Office is freezing and air con is practically blowing out my contact lenses

Oh yes, we shall be there. ihope they have enough Sambucca (White and Black) behind the bar... becasue you are all about to see something really special.... aren't they, LM? ;-)
  12. J, why do they give it a fancy name when it's just a good old fashion pie! Grrrrr. Pie denotes a bottom and top filled with filling... a "lid" is not a proper pie, so why the heck does this come up as the norm in recipe searches. Thanks for the tips - I'm not having a go at you personally. I am just having a rant about pies

    a joke

As a young boy, Joe was completely obsessed with tractors. He had pictures of tractors all over his bedroom walls; he had tractor toys, tractor T-shirts, a tractor carpet, and duvet cover, the whole works. He ate, drank and slept tractors. On his 17th birthday he was thrilled to get an invitation to go to a tractor factory nearby and test-drive a brand new tractor. His excitement was incredible as he told his family and friends. The great day came and he went to the factory for the test-drive. Unfortunately something went terribly wrong with the tractor when Joe was driving it and it flipped over, trapping and breaking Joe's leg and fracturing his skull. He was so upset and tried to sue the tractor company for negligence. But the company would have none of it and told there was no liability and He could get lost! You can imagine he was very annoyed with tractors after this and vowed to shed them from his life completely and forever. All the posters came down, the toys were given away - tractors were GONE. Many years later, Joe went into a bar for a drink. Inside, the cigarette and cigar smoke was terrible but through it he saw a beautiful girl seated at the bar on her own. Tears were streaming down her face. Joe asked her what was wrong and she said that the smoke was making her eyes sting and stream with tears. With that, Joe looked around and then took a huge breath, sucking in all the smoke. He then walked outside into the car park and blew all the smoke out again. He goes back into the bar where the air is now clear and sweet and sits down next to the girl. "That was amazing!" she said, "How did you do that?" "No problem", said Joe "I'm an ex-tractor fan"
  14. Does anyone have a good recipe/method for a proper pie, i.e. with pastry base. I tried a while back to find the correct method of making a pie with a base online... I have never been so frustated and so close to throwing my laptop out of the window. It always came back with a "lid" receipe, which is NOT a pie in my book.

My racing snail was not winning races any more, so I decided to remove his shell to make him more aerodynamic. It didn't work. If anything it made him more sluggish

Good luck to them and the news is great. The media frenzy is the real problem. What really bugged me most of all today was the TV news media comments that, ?It is not likely that they will marry in Westminster as this is too much of a reminder of his mother?s funeral?... No, YOU reporting it every 10 minutes is too much of a reminder of his mother?s death. It?s that attitude and stance that annoys me most, the tone is always as though they are standing on, only as bystanders like us, commenting on the media frenzy as if they have no part in it!
  17. She was at home marking this one out using maps of the stars and old astrology charts >:D > it never occurred to me that it's the third > Friday of the month > > Sure it didn't ;)
  18. I am a bit of a late starter on this one. (Only started as of Monday 8th). However, my Christmas party isn't until the 9th December, so I will be doing a full month. What's been the worst part for people so far? I have a night out planned (ages ago) with an old friend in Krakow this weekend, and am almost dreading telling her I am not drinking.

The "keep calm and carry on" posters are enough to make me question why I am still working here. These really are the kind of people that would say things like, "I'm totally crazy me". I can testify that they are mad, just not in the way they think they are. anyhoos, I have moved on to my Burberry now, which I like to think is a lot cooler B) No? :-S No. :(
  20. Where's the recipe for Soda bread? I can't bloomin' find it!
  21. My colleague rushed into work late this morning. As she was undoing her coat she realised that not only ahd she got her normal outfit on, but somehow had managed to put her arm inside another dress (which had been on the same hanger) and had effectively worn two outfits to work. :-$
  22. I think I may need to try this recipe out - sounds great. Especially as it does always bug me the way the Sweet and Sour Sauce can vary so much from place to place. Tarot, I am sorry, but I did laugh quite hard at your Fried Rice. In theory you "did exactly what it said on the tin" But that really is funny! Another good suggestion is to use old rice i.e. a day old or so that has been in the fridge. If you can't to that then cook your rice a bit earlier and dry it out in a low heat oven. Try not to burn it, but basically the dryer the rice the better it fries. And to make the egg, mix 1-2 eggs with dark soy sauce and a drop of sesame oil. Heat wok, add egg mixture, let it cook a little then using a fork or spatula try and scramble it almost. Then add a touch more oil before adding the rice to the mixture, and then dark soy and blend together. It should only need to cook for a few minutes and keep mixing well to heat evenly.
