Hello

Does anyone know if there are any nurseries in Dulwich (East Dulwich pref) that are term time only?

I'm due back to work when my son is 1 and have signed up to a nursery close to work which is run for teachers - i.e. it's only open during term time so you don't have to pay for holidays.

The nursery won't have places in time so I would like to sign him up to a local nursery (means I won't have to commute with him as well) but I haven't found anything when searching online.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Kate

I'm a teacher too and looked into this briefly when I went back to work in Jan (my daughter was 11 months). I didn't find anywhere locally that took children as young as 1 term time only. I did however find a childminder who only worked during term time and my current chilminder charges half in the school hols, plus I have the option of sending her for a day if I need to. Sorry, not very helpful maybe someone else can be of more help!

Good luck!

Thanks Crystal - that is helpful. Do you happen to have the details of the childminder you found who only worked term time? Also, do you know what the going rate for childminders is? The school I've got him signed up to is pretty reasonable - about ?47 a day - don't supposed I would be able to get a childminder for that much???!!!

Also do you know how nanny shares work?

Thanks

Kate

Hi

I'm not sure about nanny shares, was a bit out of our price range but expect someone else will help there.

Childminder rates vary, usually about ?5-6 per hour. I pay ?45 per day (8-4.30) including meals and snacks. Unfortunately one of the childminders I saw now works as a classroom assistant and the other had a post in the classified sections of this forum but I can't remember her name. I'm sure if you put up a post asking for term time only childcare you may get some replies.

Hope this helps. PM me if you need anything else.

    • Let's not forget this is the lowest level of local politics. If McCash really thought his defection could trash the Labour Party nationally, and it was loaded with invective and exhibitionism, then that's pretty much the definition of a "hissy fit"! Scooping the Green nomination for DaWN constituency is also going to be a lot harder for a Marxist arriviste than you suggest. There may be a wave of new, younger Polanski-ites that have joined the Green Party of E&W recently, but it's the long-standing, often retired members of the Party that tend to participate in candidate interview panels and bother voting in selections...
    • They've had 26 years or so of trading, and if anyone deserves decent retirement... In my view they're going out at the top. It's clearly being sold, assuming it all goes through as a very more more than just a going concern.
    • I had heard this was on the cards a while ago, sad, the end of an era, but well done Rod and Tim for stewarding a beacon of excellence for so many years.
    • Both your hopes will be fine, I think. Our waitress will stay on. The downstairs is getting refurbished, and the bar area enlarged, presumably by removing that awkward little 'lobby' by the loos.
