Any font experts?

Can any clever person please tell me what font this is on the great man's album cover? I need it for a mother's day card (long story!) and I could always improvise with Gill Sans which is closeish but it'd be great to get it perfect!

Try Helvetica Light or Narrow. I think the key to getting a similar look is the spacing of the letters, they almost touch each other...

Thanks Red - has some elements but the G is proving difficult! Suspect it might be a hand-designed effort...

The Avant Garde font has a similar mixture of 'fat' and 'thin' letters, and the G is very close too...

Try Futura Book, but not sure look at the R and G, it uses - tracking too

It looks like a version of Century Gothic ? slightly condensed and with a longer arm on the G.

A few of the CG letters aren't quite right, e.g. the E isn't vertically symmetrical like the album cover, but overall close enough for purpose...

The Rs and Gs don't match for Gill Sans but it's v.close otherwise.

A little before the end, still without any clear fit, my brain whispered to me to google on the title name + "album cover font", and I ended up at http://uchi.co.uk/blog/tag/the-revolution-will-not-be-televised/.

From there, not even stopping for a cuppa, it was a quick hop, skip and jump to ITC Avant Garde Gothic at https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/itc/avant-garde-gothic/, and then to the Standard Medium version at https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/itc/avant-garde-gothic/std-medium/. I think that's it, though I suppose it's possible it could be one of the other variants shown there, which I've not checked. Please don't tell me I'm wrong.

Ianr is correct- it is Avante Garde Medium. If you look at the G, it has a smooth curve at the base which Century Gothic doesn't. The S of Avante Garde is also more rounded than Century.

Wow thank you Ian for going above and beyond! I ended up at that same page Googling for the font, but when I saw it was someone's artwork rather than the cover I assumed it wasn't the same thing...duh. Tomorrow I'll look for a free version for Mac - MyFonts want ?30 for it, much as I love the mater that seems a tad excessive for a weak gag card when I could spend that on wine (for her)!

Found free on ufonts.com, should anybody else be making their mothers cards featuring seminal 1970s singles...

Careful with those free font sites, some are dodgy. I think Loz gave me a kosher one a few years ago...

Yes lots of them try to trick you into downloading this or that program but this one seems OK, didn't try any tricks, got through the virus checks and works.
