Go to Forest Hill, we moved from ED from a flat to a semi-detached house last November and in less than a year our house has gone up in value by 180k. You get bigger houses, wider roads, better parking and tube line in 2010. I admit that you can't beat the social scene in ED as there is bugger all in Forest Hill but if you want value for money... Most of my family live in ED and I eat out on Lorship Lane regularly but it's only 5 mins in the car so you're not really that out of the way.

(used to live in Sydenham too but not as nice as Forest Hill)
