sillywoman
We're about to embark on the whole - teaching the kids to drive nightmare. Does anyone have any recommendations for good, reasonably priced local instructors/schools, or equally schools/ instructors to avoid? Any and all help & advice appreciated. cornelia
Sounds like Rich Hammond is who you need! He is on the EDF - here is a link: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1578706,1580249 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/151623-parents-of-teens-driving-instructorschool-recommendations-saught/#findComment-1132142 Share on other sites
Milan05
There's also a useful thread in the Businesses section that may be helpful. Mischa
I recently learned to drive with Herne Hill Driving School - which is owned and managed by Peter. I liked his approach - calm, unflappable, not pedantic. Would recommend. It took me a while as apparently it generally does when you're older - but I managed it eventually! alieh
I can recommend Nicholas Driving Academy. I just passed on my first go after a few months of lessons with Nick. http://www.nicholasdrivingacademy.co.uk/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/151623-parents-of-teens-driving-instructorschool-recommendations-saught/#findComment-1133812 Share on other sites
peckhamcraig
Posted this on another thread but another big recommendation for Silvano. After about 10 years without driving at all after failing my practical test when I was 22, I decided about 18 months ago that enough was enough I really had to learn to drive. I spent a few months with an instructor which did not work out so I used this forum to try and find an instructor that was recommended locally and Silvano was a revelation. He has lots of experience which he draws on to make sure you are not only able to pass your test but also that you are set up with the skills and control to be a safe driver afterwards, which is the metric against which driving instructors should really be measured. He is incredibly patient which is very important and his thoroughness and attention to detail means you gain a really comprehensive understanding of how to control a car. After around 60-70 hours of instruction I passed my test at the first time of asking (since that failed test a decade ago) with five minor faults but what?s more I?m a confident and safe driver. If you are looking for an instructor I would thoroughly recommend you contact Silvano first ? choosing the right instructor is a big decision and I?m glad I made the right choice. His number is 07702 615834.
