I know it might not look so good, but have you thought of doing it yourself? I cut my son's hair in the bath when it is wet and he is distracted by toys. I have seen hairdressers offering cuts for c. ?15 for toddlers and I cannot even fathom how they would get my son to sit still in a chair for more than 30 seconds without wanting to get down and/or flailing wildly and incurring the wrath of some sharp scissors. My son is 15m so maybe it gets better the older they get.

Anyway, if you can bear it, doing it yourself might be a good option!

i've only ever been charged ?5 for my son and that was at Village Way and Headnizm. Both were really nice and good with kids. Village Way give a free first haircut to your child if the parent is a regular there.

one friend tells me that her daughter was quoted ?15-20 for her first haircut though. thinks paces vary so do ask for a price idea. i do sometime also do baby ko's hair myself when he is asleep as he is becoming a wriggler now!

I've found that my 2 daughters behave better for haircuts at home. I used a pair of baby scissors to start with as I was too scared to use anything sharper. But generally have got a better cut myself than the hairdressers have managed.

Key to good behaviour is the lollipop at the end. They'll do anything for one.

I would recommend Attractions hair salon on Brockley Rise (Honor Oak). Both of my children have their hair cuts there and they are a really child friendly salon. Both of mine (boys!) totally love having their hair cut so must be good. If you google them you will find their details.

    • A new roadmap (surely railmap?!) for rail accessibility has been published: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railways-roadmap It says "approximately 56% of stations and around 66% of the 1.3 billion journeys that take place on the network have step-free access to platforms...  "£373 million has been committed over the next 5 years to deliver Access for All projects, providing step-free access from station entrances to and between platforms, alongside other essential accessibility upgrades. These works, together, will increase the number of step-free stations across Great Britain from 56% to 58%. "This improvement will make travel easier with step-free access available at stations covering an increased share of total rail journeys – from 66% up to 71%" Don't know what that means for us here: upgrading Peckham Rye would cover a lot of rail journeys but the cost has no doubt increased from the £40m figure previously quoted. So that would eat into a lot of the funding.
