MUDDY BOOTS Children's Outdoor Nature Group at Devonshire Road Nature Reserve, Forest Hill. Every Monday and Friday 10-11.30am during term time.

We're making potions at Muddy Boots tomorrow! Come and make a magical potion from the fragrant plants in our garden to turn your parents into... a newt perhaps? Or a damsel fly?

We'll be discovering the different smells of plants and flowers and thinking about why they smell?

MUDDY BOOTS Children's Outdoor Nature sessions at Devonshire Road Nature Reserve in Forest Hill run every Monday and Friday 10-11.30. The session is hands on, engaging, grubby fun, and all outside in the fresh air of our lovely nature reserve.

As well as making potions, there's digging, watering and mud painting on offer in the garden; we'll have a walk in the woods (distance to suit your child) and then head back to the meadow basecamp for snacks and drinks, songs, stories and poems.

Sessions run every Monday and Friday 10-11.30. They are drop in sessions, so no need to book ahead, just turn up on the day.

Meet up at the big green iron Reserve gates on Devonshire Road (opposite Tyson road) at 10am. There is on-street parking on Devonshire Road and Tyson Road.

Recommended for children 14m upwards, but you can try younger if you like! It's ?7 per child, ?10 for 2 siblings, child-minded children discount available., Siblings under 14m go free.

    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?
    • @first mate I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.  Update: I've just found this: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/community-safety/community-wardens The guy in the photo at the bottom of the page was the lovely warden of last night and I've just now remembered him telling me he's based in Burgess Park. Anyway, there needs to be more of them, as I rarely see one in Peckham.
    • Some of us oldies would associate Grove with the old Grove Vale School (which I went to in the 1950s)
