oglander
Is there anyone out there who can repair an old BHS wall clock which I'm very fond of. The metal tab that holds the battery in place has broken so I need to replace it but don't have the tools. It may be too old & the parts too fragile by now but I don't want to throw it away unless I'm sure it can't be mended. George Orwell
I am sure it can be mended. The entire clock mechanism will be in a 2 inch x 2 inch black plastic box which also holds the battery. The easiest way is to buy a replacement mechanism which any handy person could fit. I've done it myself. eBay has them for around ?5, but you need to know the correct type.I don't know anyone who trades as a 'battery clock fixer' but maybe some electronic / computer / phone repair people might help you. The covered market in Peckham could be a place to start. Please don't throw it away - someone can do it.
