Ruth_Baldock
Seb has never been to a creche. I am about to start training to be a breastfeeding counsellor, and the course is for 3hours a week, with a creche provided. S is VERY attatched to me (even at playgroups he has tantrums/epic meltdowns if I am not right by his side every 10 minutes) and I anticipate tears and his dying swan act. Has anyone had a baby so attatched that they couldn't put them in a creche? How else can I get round this? What do I need to send him with? Extra dummies/sippy cups/organix biscuit bribes? Nappies? Gin? Whiskey? Barcardi? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15366-learn-me-about-creches-forum/ Share on other sites
GinaG3
Ruth who are you training with? Do you know the venue. When I trained last year (with LLLI for Southwark PCT) we had an adjoining room that was the 'creche' I never put my daughter in there at all. Sorry to say she hated it, very clingy too! Leaders were happy for the kids to stay in the room and breastfeed or play whilst we trained. Lily learned it all with me. You should have the option to keep him by you, if that works for you. There isn't a lot of written work or anything so you should be absolutely fine keeping little seb with you.P.S I tried every bribe in the book, it didn't work! If he wants to stay with you, I'd let him to be honest. Well done for doing the training too, definitely worth it. I wouldn't give up my voluntary slot for the world! Ruth_Baldock
Gina; I'm doing it through the BFN in Wandsworth; the course leader is Zoe Chadderton. Really looking forward to it. I was still breastfeeding Seb when I applied and got accepted onto the course, but he weaned when I was 8w pregnant, so bribing him with boob won't help. I may just let him sit with me on my lap/toddling about the room as he pleases. His penchant for throwing screaming tantrums 50,000x daily may put a damper on things, but sounds like everyone will be understanding.Next hurdle: getting to Tooting for 9.15am on public transport. GinaG3
I hated early morning buses! I did it with Lily from 11-14 months. She was exactly as your describing Seb, very clingy and loves to throw tantrums when away from me. I was dreading it but we got on perfectly fine. She just ran about playing with a couple other babies whose mums didn't want them in the creche either. Honestly you will be fine, the group shouldn't mind at all. Your giving up your time and effort, they have to understand the child element. Best of luck with it, it is a very good course in general! Loved every second of it, and made lots of new friends!
