Loving the idea that the clock is restored and back. (and i'm not even of the older generation)

Dulwich library was being talked about in Cornwall this week:a talk on Celebrating the Centenary of the life of John Passmore Edwards, the Cornish Philanthropist, attended by mum (who I suppose is one of the older generation).

Graywallpaper: I am not the older generation either but so what if I was? Also DOLE SCUM please - that is very rude, I feel very ashamed you ever bothered to write that on this thread - we were talking about historical items/buildings that are important to restore nothing to do with unemployment.
i never said you was old, tell me wear i said that?? at the end of the day waisting money on old clocks, old castels, stupid stateus, whatever, is same as waisting money on dole scroungers in hard times after credit crunch. GIVE IT 2 PPL THAT DESERVE IT. do you work? if u did u wood feel like me about dole scum and ppl who want something 4 nothin. i left school when i was 16', never been on dole, i'de rather die than clame a jiro theres' 2 many like u soft on scum who give nothin back 2 society. next time u will be saying big isseu sellers r genuien!! • Found Leon through the forum and would just like to add to all the recommendations as was very happy with his work. Had a few minor electrical issues that he solved quickly and efficiently for me along with very good communication, turns up when he says he will and is polite, professional and friendly. Leon’s number is 07707 925039
    • In the country, where I have relocated to these things and dealing with council  for all matters are dealt with  in days… freely admit less population than london. Certainly faster in everything.  Not surprised at all about Thames Water - remember years ago calling them about a leak in road - then it took a week for them to come out, despite daily calls from me. Disgusting at that time the lack of concern and wastage of water. Unbelievable that they are not held to account fir anything and that goes for Southwark Council as well.
    • But without knowing the cause of the repeated leaks, it's impossible to comment really. Poor repairs? Something wrong further up the system? Lack of maintenance?  When one of the leaks in our road recurred shortly after it had been repaired, a TW guy said to me that the repairers must have jumped too hard on the asphalt (?) laid above the point of the repair when they were getting it to settle (?) and broken the repair. I wasn't sure if he was joking or not 🤣
    • But in many cases the leaks are happening in the same places again and again, and every inch of pipe outside the Horniman on the South Circular must have been replaced at least 3 times in the last 15 years! Of course the infrastructure in some areas is old, but locally there's been quite a bit of replacement. To little effect it would seem.
