Loving the idea that the clock is restored and back. (and i'm not even of the older generation)

Dulwich library was being talked about in Cornwall this week:a talk on Celebrating the Centenary of the life of John Passmore Edwards, the Cornish Philanthropist, attended by mum (who I suppose is one of the older generation).

Graywallpaper: I am not the older generation either but so what if I was? Also DOLE SCUM please - that is very rude, I feel very ashamed you ever bothered to write that on this thread - we were talking about historical items/buildings that are important to restore nothing to do with unemployment.
i never said you was old, tell me wear i said that?? at the end of the day waisting money on old clocks, old castels, stupid stateus, whatever, is same as waisting money on dole scroungers in hard times after credit crunch. GIVE IT 2 PPL THAT DESERVE IT. do you work? if u did u wood feel like me about dole scum and ppl who want something 4 nothin. i left school when i was 16', never been on dole, i'de rather die than clame a jiro theres' 2 many like u soft on scum who give nothin back 2 society. next time u will be saying big isseu sellers r genuien!! LOL. one thing this goverment got write is clamping down on so-call 'incapacaty benefit. most of them clameants r as fit as proverbeal m8, i'ts got 2 stop. their time is running out :)

    • Would Leon install a new double oven? Our eye level double oven was installed when we had our kitchen installed around 20 years ago and will need to be replaced with similar. I think we had 2 people to install it then - so does Leon work alone?
    • My car was registered in 2004. Automatic, ULEZ compatible.  Used to use it daily for work until 2016 when retired. Still used 3-5 days weekly after that as was doing voluntary work. My mobility has gradually declined and  it is painful to walk.. Family live in Kent, Essex and Sussex - so need car to visit them. My car battery is 2 years old - when had to call out RAC to assist at home as it was dead, they found it was the original battery installed in 2004!! My car is essential - shopping each week, being able to go to garden centres, or DIY stores, taking the cat to the vet and  other social activities. I now only half fill with petrol every 3- 4 weeks, so save that way. I am careful  with my finances and would be lost without the car. It is regularly maintained (Turners).
    • I remember Tesco- it was on the corner of North Cross Road where Superdrug is now. Very small if I remember correctly.  We shop in Pound land - having discovered that shampoo and conditioner (brand names) were only £1 each. Good selection of most things that we need on a regular basis. It is better than the one in Peckham. Never noticed loud music when I have been in there and have always found the staff helpful and cheerful.
