bee74
My two year old son has only just had his full leg cast removed last Friday (after a helter skelter accident) and today we spent another two hours at King's A&E waiting to stitch his chin which had split open and was bleeding profusely after a fall... I feel terrible, guilty and like a bad mother... Please tell me that I am not the only one whose child is constantly having accidents? buggie
I promise you're not... there have been several families over the years that I've been on first name terms with due to the frequent accidents of their children (on mat leave at mo but normally work there!).Really isn't that unusual - think it's a bit of a stage that kids go through and would be more worried to encounter a child who held back from doing things for fear of hurting themselves (obv within reason!) prdarling
Nope...am in there at least once a month with one son or the other. Do start to get paranoid but just as well I do go in as 2 years ago took darling1 in after a fall with suspected concussion and he came out with his arm in plaster. Ooops :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15410-yet-another-ae-morning-am-i-the-only-one/#findComment-403458 Share on other sites
Fuschia
Son no 1 has had many many trips... all for accidents and rarely illness. Twins have had a fair few, always illness. He is just prone I think. Last trip was only in June, he was 7 then.. sillywoman
Ahem, only been once in 15 years with any of mine, & sensibleman took him anyway - now I know the fates will smite me for sharing that. Chins & head stuff does bleed a lot, if the cut is clean, hold it firmly together till it stops bleeding (usually a few minutes) then re-asses. Am sure my Nana's wisdom (she was a nurse) has saved me many a trip, that plus somekind of innate calm that descends on me in a crisis involving blood! Ruth_Baldock
Seb is 13 months and we have been UMPTEEN times; half for accidents (anyone remember the scalding fiasco? I certainly do...) and half for illness (novo virus and asthma related things). I always feel bad when he goes in for accidents but everyone is so lovely and one snr nurse commented that I'd done well to avoid even MORE accidents in the time he's been with us, after seeing his 'energy' and 'fearlessness'. (at 8.10am on a Saturday morning, lord help me...)
