  1. Dorothy at Emmanuel Marshall is fantastic, she?s highly trained/experienced and was a huge help with both of my kids with their v narrow feet. She won?t push a sale if unnecessary or not ready & am sure this helps her to have such a strong customer base. We?re up in N Essex now otherwise would still be using her now!
  2. If it is a baby with feeding problems that you think are a tongue tie, please ensure that you get breastfeeding support as well - there?s a clear pathway for referral to KCH TT clinic via HV/MW?s and there is lots of things to try to make feeding more comfortable prior to the appointment. Alternatively, you could check the Association of Tongue Tie Practitioners & look for them having an ibclc qualification as well, but check what follow up they offer as it is v difficult for NGS services to follow up when they did not see the tongue pre-revision.
  3. Ooooo.... I know who this is for, but don?t know their house number/or if Heidi?s mum is on here!!
  4. Having seen them recommended on here contacted AFE to sort out a leak in our bathroom. All was sorted quickly with good communication - would be very happy to use them again.
  5. If you?re breastfeeding, could be useful to seek advice to check there aren?t problems around positioning and attachment, oversupply or fast letdown which could be causing the discomfort and can all be relieved without medication. If gaviscon is making no difference, first step is to return to GP and ask for the NICE guidelines to be followed and trial ranitidine (ensuring you have a recent weight for Baby so get to HV clinic) Be very cautious with regard to CMPA information/guidelines available especially if you?re breastfeeding as there is lots that can be done to continue supporting this which often isn?t communicated especially as most funding comes from formula companies with commercial interests ahead of health.
  6. Health visitors are based at Dulwich Hospital, but come under GSTT community services so can see how the confusion has arisen. As others have said, your community MW/team should be the first port of call.
  7. Ivydale School Fabre is next Saturday (22nd June)
  8. Am guessing more rural areas like Devon have more AED?s/signs about their use as there are typically longer delays with first responders/ambulances getting to them. When my Dad collapsed in Suffolk (with a fatal pulmonary embolism)my Mum had to do CPR for 20+mins before an ambulance reached them - would be very surprised if it took longer than 5mins for an ambulance to get to a cardiac arrest in this area. Even in Suffolk (& likely across the country) there are now local first responders to improve this. AED?s are only useful if enough people have had training in how to use them, and must be used with effective CPR which can maintain oxygenation to brain and muscles until (if the correct sort of cardiac arrest) the shock can restart the heart
  9. The skin library will be able to recommend best sling for you - slumber roo is a great website to use to buy them (although it could open the door to a sling obsession!!) Not impressed normally with the Baby Bjorns :-( they?ve improved, but still lag behind lesser known better designed models - it?s all in the waist/hip belt as that?s where the weight should be carried! Was lucky to see your post as only dip into the EDF occasionally now!
  10. Oh no! Agree with Gooders - lots of sling action during the day & definitely get them weighed and check if omeprazole dose needs adjustment (check their on a mid to high range dose to cover for weight gain). Book under head end of cot legs/Moses basket stand too x
  11. Is it really a problem with the council as you have quite pointedly suggested James, or as others have pointed out, is the issue with the school (and have the school admitted this?) You seem to be being very quick to blame/point everyone towards the sitting councillors - seems a disingenuous attempt at point scoring with the election coming up - especially as neither of the labour councillors on/mentioned on this thread are in direct competition with you.
  12. Pretty sure your voting card for the election would be admissible as proof too.
  13. The OP doesn?t name the jab - unsure how it?s been assumed it?s MMR (which unless there?d been a measles outbreak would be unlikely). If it?s DTP which includes tetanus then I would advise taking it - no amount of herd immunity can protect against tetanus and having been an A&E nurse for 12yrs know it would cause a lot of stress to patients once they had an open tetanus prone wound realising they didn?t have adequate protection.
  14. Nancy Nunn at Nunhead Osteopathy is an expert in he field and lectures/trains paediatric cranial osteopathy.
  15. How annoying that they?ve deleted their response to the original complaint on the insta thread.. looks like they?ve got a fair bit of work to do to regain the trust of parents in need of coffee!
  16. We have had a greyhound for 3wks and can?t recommend them highly enough (as I write him and my 7yr old are laying together on the floor!! We adopted him from Dunrunnin a retired greyhound trust rehoming kennel in Brands Hatch & they continue to offer amazing post-adoption support & even offer kennelling (for a v v reasonable price) for holidays. Exercise wise they don?t need much - the nickname 40mph couch potatoes doesn?t come for nothing!!
  17. I?ve got a daughter in yr 2 there & a son in the Nursery who?ll be going into reception next year (with sibling + increased places feel v secure saying that!) and I really like it. As Nunheadmun says, they?ve worked hard and it?s evidenced by the work my daughter is capable of - her handwriting is already better than mine! Read behind the headlines in the Foster report and it seems the inspectors could see the improvements and how effective funds were being used but had decided before entering the school that it needed improvement. Look on the Ivydale website parent forum section for a better idea of how the school works with parents.
  18. Saw a post on an FB group about a Sainsburys in Charlton running lego card swapping sessions in store - shame ED one hasn't thought to do it... my daughter's also got lots of swaps and no one to swap with so happy to pm you with her swaps/needs to see if any tally up.
  19. Sounds very strange similar to Ivydale which has come out overall as "needs improvement" Felt like that decision had already been made before Ofsted stepped over the threshold as throughout the report they state the things they mark the school down on are already being addressed. Feel fortunate to already have a child there and have enough involvement in the school to know it is a fantastic school as I'm sure many GG parents know about their school.
  20. Have you approached your HV? (before looking at paid options!). It's really common for a regression to occur after illness and important not to be stressed/anxious about mealtimes as that could add to her reluctance. This is really helpful to look at for ideas and reassurance: http://www.firststepsnutrition.org/newpages/Infants/first_year_of_life.html Finally remember up until 1yr old, the majority of nutrition still comes from milk and the most important thing is for baby to be able to move food round the mouth/chew/swallow and be familiar with different textures rather than eat certain quantities.
  21. As a Nunhead parent as well (albeit my eldest is only Yr 1!) I'm surprised that you feel we have a poor selection - friends kids have had hugely positive experiences at Deptford Green (the current head boy is ex-Ivydale) and as you say yourself Harris Girls is seeking to make huge improvements and again know of friends having very happy children there. Sounds like your (understandably) disappointed not to have got your choice rather than the schools not being very good.
  22. Hmmmm... all of this posters posts are to recommend private GP's/dentist... wee bit fishy methinks! emmavaudet Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If you are looking for a good GP, I recommend you > to see Henri Joubert. I couldn't recommend a > better one. > > https://www.findoc.co.uk/specialist/london/gp/henr > i-joubert
  23. Think a bit of perspective is needed here - Rather than making snipey comments about the labour council, surely this is another example of how cuts from the central government (started under the coalition IIRC) to local authority budgets affect the services their able to offer? Would much rather see the cuts affect recycling facilities (which are widely available via our blue bin collections & the Devons Rd depot) than to the already thinly stretched public health services (inc health visiting and school nurses).
