Recommendations for family friendly accommodation in Rome/Florence this summer

Hi,

We've finally booked our summer holiday and part of it will be in Rome and Florence. I just wondered if any of you have stayed in either or both with children and would have recommendations for where to stay/eat etc. We will only be in Florence for one night, but in Rome for three. There will be two adults and three children. Ideally we would be walking distance to the main attractions, but could get public transport in. Thanks in advance
