Donations to Grenfell Tower residents

Recommended Posts

This is just a suggestion for those of us in the EDF community ...

Anyone on here with something to sell or give away over the coming weeks and months could consider donating it to the Grenfell Tower residents, who will no doubt need basics such as clothes, baby/childrens paraphernalia, bedding and beds, tables, chairs etc.

I know some people sell stuff here and need the money. I'm not suggesting those people shouldn't do that. I'm just suggesting that if there's anyone that could spare anything and were thinking of passing it on via the Forum, they could direct it to West London instead.

With peace and love from a sad Londoner tonight.

Our company has been told that they have been inundated with donations and have to sort through and see what they need. I have attached the image of the tweet we received. The email address is Royal Borough of Kensinton and Chelsea

Basically - don't take anymore things, but email what you have and if they need it they can contact you.

There is an appeal being run by the ?Kensington and Chelsea Foundation? for anyone who'd like to make cash donations to support those affected. Link below:

There are also numerous justgiving pages, one is here (Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund)

I have created a just giving page yesterday & would like to split the donation between 2 charities "Family Action & The Kensington & Chelsea Foundation" This mean it can help the affected not just for short term but for the long term as well.

    • One of the issues is that under this government, the so called black hole of £20 billion has, according to some, risen to £50 billion. Which will result in even more taxes. I was always taught to cut my coat according to my cloth, which would in an ideal world mean having to halt or stop projects or services until the deficit is down to a manageable level. Increasing taxes has a limit (the Laffer Curve https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laffer_curve)  and also damages the economy and the publics ability to spend.  If Labour want to turn things around they are going to have to face some uncomfortable decisions on where to cut their ambition.
    • "Country before Party" is Starmer's motto. Lucy Powell, Burnham and other senior cabinet ministers briefing against Starmer, describing the situation as 'terminal', and publicly condemning him is not putting the country first. They'll be no better than the Tories if they enforce on us a new PM and the political dissatisfaction of the electorate will explode.  Labour needs to get its house in order, but there are too many factions and, just like the Tories at the end, it doesn't know what it is anymore. I think the situation is unsolvable.
    • I saw that too but it was already sold unfortunately -  so if anyone else has one they’re not using I’m still interested! Thanks!
