RecorderSue
You could try the student accommodation which is easily reachable from centre by walking or by bus. I have stayed there twice and the service is excellent, with buffet breakfast, and some ensuite rooms. You may be a bit late in booking though. Tigres Pride
I would try looking for accommodation further out like Leith Docks. Edinburgh runs a lot of people carrier cabs that take up to 7 or 8 people so 2 cabs will get you there and a bus-ride takes you back up to the Central area direct. Both are very cheap compared to London prices.
