cheerydisco
I have a phil and teds vibe double buggy .... As I understand the instructions i should be putting my older /heavier child in the main part of the buggy and the smaller lighter child in the clip on bottom bit. But this does not seem to be what other mums do ( often they have the smaller child at the front/higher seat .A : does it matter?B : if I take out the bigger child from the front and leave the little one in the low seat is there any chance of the buggy tipping up... I was never sure why it mattered as to who went where. My big child is 3 and the smaller one is 1. I doubt the older one would fit on the bottom seat as the leg room is not great but it just seems so unfair for the little one to be stuck down low all the time.Any tips. / comments ? Got to be an issue others have faced. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15857-phil-and-teds-who-goes-on-top/ Share on other sites
Sanne Panne
I recently started a thread about a very similar topic, you may get some ideas from the replies I got there and I obviously hope you get some more answers here as well. Good luck. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15857-phil-and-teds-who-goes-on-top/#findComment-412209 Share on other sites
edanna
Hi Cheerydisco, I had baby no 2 in the bottom for a while, because it would tip up very easily otherwise, especially on the bus. But I do now have her in the top - she's 9 months, though big for her age - because it was getting really hard to get her in and out and no 1 who is 3 doesn't go in that often. You must be v careful not to take light one out of the top when heavy one in bottom, unless you are ready to counterbalance with something, otherwise it will tip up very suddenly. Apart from that, it works really well for me. ClareC
When the younger child is newborn / less than 6 months, the younger one goes in the main seat and the doubles kit is clicked on top, so the older child sits above the baby but in the additional seat.Once the younger one is 6 months (although most seem to do this younger than 6 months), the older child goes in the main section and the younger child goes in the doubles kit positioned beneath the main seat - ie in the position you generally see the doubles kit.If you put the older child underneath there is a risk of the buggy tipping as the weight isn't balanced correctly.Cx Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15857-phil-and-teds-who-goes-on-top/#findComment-412211 Share on other sites
Gussy
Hi I followed the instructions as above until a point where my eldest wanted to walk a lot more and my youngest became a bit heavier and therefore when eldest got out of the top my youngest in the bottom would tip it up. Therefore, youngest now goes in the top, so eldest can pop in and out of the underneath with no risk of tipping. I think basically you just work out what works for you after a few trips, based on how much they walk, sit, sleep, weight of them both etc etc x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/15857-phil-and-teds-who-goes-on-top/#findComment-412308 Share on other sites
cheerydisco
Thanks for all the tips... I think having the little one in the main buggy (on top) is better at the mo as she will not be getting out and then bigger child can hop in /out of the lower deck as needed. I will watch out for the tipping as I was not sure if that would happen and did not want to look like a fool!! But at least I know what the right configuration is now! I think I have found an earlier thread too on a similar point and probably need to invest in some strap extenders ifI am going to get real use out of this !Thanks to you all. Sanne Panne
Don't invest in the extenders, you should get them for free if you call the number I was given in my thread (click on link in my message further up).
