Airnimal Joey Explorer commuter bike SOLD

Recommended Posts

Sold: I have an Airnimal Joey Explorer drop for sale.

I bought the bike to use for my commute, but my job role changed and I ended up not using it. This is a great bike to use if you want a proper bike that folds. It can't be used to fold on the train every day, and I ended up using my Brompton instead.

I am the second owner of the bike. The first owner bought the bike directly from Airnimal. When I bought it you could tell it had been very lightly used. I have ridden less than 200 miles on the bike since then.

The bike has recently been fully serviced by Pearson Cycles in Sheen, London.

The bike comes with the Commuter kit. I added the rear rack and mudguards and bought the proper kit from Airnimal. I changed the tyres to Schwalbe Marathon Plus 1.50" tyres because I wanted some added puncture protection.

The bike comes in one frame size only. Airnimal say the frame fits riders between about 5'3" (160 cm) and 6'3" (190 cm).

I can email photos or you can come and see it (close to Dulwich Hospital). The bike is in excellent condition. There is a scratch to the decal Airnimal sticker (not the frame). There is also a small scratch on the handlebar.

You can find out more about the bike on the Airnimal website here: http://airnimal.eu/products/joey/explore-drop/#.WVi84ITyu70

Joey Commuter Kit

Made up of three components;

Wheel mount, fits to the disc mount on the back of the frame, when folded the front wheel can be attached to the mount and the bike can be wheeled on the front wheel.

Handlebar clamp, fits to the bottle cage bosses (bottle cage can not be fitted at the same time) and holds the handle bar in place when folded.

Support bracket, which fits to the bridge between the seat stays, it provides protection and stability when folded.

Joey Fixed Mudguard

SKS full mudguard set specifically for the Airnimal Joey. By turning the handlebar/fork through 180 degrees, the first fold can be used as normal.

Please PM me if you are interested or have any questions.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
