ED Yummy Mummies? What about the Tubby Hubbies ??!!

Recommended Posts

Oh, just saw this thread. Very amusing! But I have to say that even as a mummy (and I like to think I'm yummy... well I can wear my skinny jeans again anyway), I sometimes find the other mummies predatory and territorial!

I hope I never glower, and I always try to be welcoming. My daughter is very friendly too. If she sees you MrTwirly, she'll probably go out of her way to say hello (even though she is only 13 months). She's been known to cross entire cafes to pat strange men on the knees. (Hmm, let's hope she outgrows that before her teen years!) Anyhoo, if you want to borrow her and take the buggy on jaunt around the local cafes, you can have a blast running over peoples' toes whilst Little Saff blows raspberries.

;)

ha ha . thats good . :))

I long ago gave up on attempting to have a coffee in any of the Dulwich cafes for the reasons listed by MrTwirly. My advice is to jump on a 176 to the Charing Cross Road and go to Caffe Vergnano - there's no wifi and no space for buggies and you will get one of the best coffees in town, a range of great pastries and snacks for less than you would pay in the Blue Mountain or Lucca....outside of the rush hour it's around a 20 minute journey and a small price to pay for retaining your sanity.....

...or try the cafes in the undercover bit of Brixton market; several at least as good as any around here. You won't see many YMs of ED there.

Or you could spend an hour in the Pavilion cafe in Dulwich Park. After that nothing else will seem quite so bad.

    • You could try asking  ChatGPT? Give it the information you have posted here, and ask for suggestions in your preferred geographical areas (eg South and Central London, or whatever). It recently saved me hours when I was looking to see if there was a cheaper  energy tariff for my usage, and it  gave me other very useful relevant  information. I've also used it for several other things, and it has been eye openingly helpful. ETA: I know there are various issues around AI, so please if forum members are reading this and want to discuss them (I don't), don't do it on this thread!
    • Yes it would be easier, and I give a lot to the hospice shops, but for various reasons there are certain things I prefer to give to Oxfam. However I might go through the books and see if some could be donated more locally. I think in any charity shop staffed by volunteers, the reception you get must depend on the member of staff. The Oxfam bookshop have always been very happy when I've taken shedloads of books there in the past. On the other hand, I've taken things to the hospice shop that were received very grumpily when they hadn't even looked in the bag or asked what they were. It felt like I was being a nuisance and causing them more work. I don't remember a previous thread on here  about the Oxfam shop and parking, but that's possibly because it wasn't relevant to me at the time.
