Narnia
Does anyone put any thought into choosing who supplies you? My monthly bills appear to be more like what I used to pay a quarter. The bills themselves are guaranteed to confuse with different rates depending on usage. Comparison websites will tell you to change and save x amount. One of these got me to change to my current supplier. I am now advised to change again after only a few months. To me it appears that there are no like for like tariffs between the various suppliers and what they do have is not user friendly. More a case of baffle them with bullshit than blind them with science I think. regalia
It is infuriating that one cannot determine the rates between the suppliers in a simple manner, made complex to make an 'industry' from supplying two commodities by various of suppliers.Grrr! Drxyster
I have recently had the same problem, with most suppliers charging say X amount for the first 2680 units/ Kwh (Kilowatt Hours) and a lower sum for the rest of the units used in that specific quarter.I contacted both my Electricity supplier and Gas supplier and asked how many units I had used in the last year and also how many units were at the higher price and how many at the lower price.I also asked what these prices would be from March 1st 2011. This gave me the information I required to compare different suppliers accurately.I am therefore staying with my present supplier of Gas but changeing my Electricty supplier.I also believe that from March 1st EDF my current electricty supplier will be making a daily standing charge for Electricty, whether or not you use any electricity. This is particularly annoying, if for instance you are away from home for a few weeks each year, this means you are paying a daily charge when not using any Electricity. My eventual annual saving is expected to be ?33.00 a year. Was it all worth it??? peterstorm1985
Unless you are a family of four who have the heating/lights on all day it's really hard to make the savings that are so often quoted. I did once sit down and do all the sums using my previous year's usage (it took a weekend!) and worked out that the highest saving I could get wouldn't have covered my time. So I became a sloth and decided to glory in the idea that I'd enjoy the peace that comes from letting others chase the lowest price and hope that my own supplier would attempt to compete. I may be a little poorer but my blood pressure is much lower.
