Last night, 4 guys on 2 scooters. They were using an angle grinder to go through the lock on my Vespa, at around 2am.

Luckily my wife and our neighbours all woke up, and one was taking photos of the perps and their scooters.

When I opened my door my dogs scared them off (or the sight of me in my pants). 3 police cars responded, then went looking for them.

The police are taking a much more active interest in this sort of thing than they did a few years ago, as these perps are subsequently doing much worse with the bikes they steal.

Anyway, lock them up, with alarms and multiple layers.

can we get some pics posted please.. seems like a pattern of thefts with scooters recently |& sooner these scumbags are caught the better

Sorry to hear that!

May I ask what lock it was? I think the best ones are the Almax and Pragmasis one (both British brands).

If your bedroom is close to where you park your Vespa, a lock with a loud alarm might be useful (but it can be muffled), or, better yet, one which causes a remote in your room to go off (they can't muffle that). I posted about it in another thread, but can't remember the name of the product now. I also have a GPS tracker (Alltrac), but, depending on the battery of your Vespa, that might drain a scooter's battery too quickly.

    • You can get a card at the till, though, to get the discount. You don't have to carry it with you (or load it onto your phone), you can just get a different card each time. Not sure what happens if they notice 🤣
    • Yes..that may be the case but membership STARTING at £115 a month is still unafforable for many. Council gyms also have a large range of equipment and I had a  PT at Dulwich leisure centre when I was in Full Time employment who was incredible and even kept in contact during lockdown giving me a program I could do at home and checking in weekly at no charge or personal gain for herself. I dont doubt that Fit For may be a good gym (Its been in situ long enough so must be doing something right) However the cost of membership means it is affordable for the few not the many. If I could afford that kind of fee I would rather get a train to Canary Wharf and go to Virgin active where theres a pool and incredible classes and facilities
    • This sounds great 👍
    • We found a red TREK bike yesterday that had clearly been stolen and dumped. Would love to reunite it with its owner. Get in touch if you know whose it is.
