Cava uses the champenoise traditional method and is a far better choice if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to Champagne than Prosecco. English sparkling wines can be excellent and whilst not cheap are better value than Champagne. Ridgeview do some good ones.

The Prosecco fad is a triumph of marketing and brand over taste imo.

There are good/nasty proseccos just as there are good/nasty champagnes.

If i want a summer wine i'll try and find a half decent Provencal rose right now.
