edanna
My son's teacher has recommended he learns to touch type over the summer holidays. Can anyone recommend a local course, tutor or online training? Thanks! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/159217-touch-typing-for-kids/ Share on other sites
Cora
Mavis beacon and there are intensive/holiday courses called something like 'yes' touch typing...not tried as seemed expensive and couldn't believe they would learn that quickly but would be a start? edanna
Thanks Cora - I did Mavis Beacon years ago. I have looked at 'yes I can touch type' - you only pay for what they attend so I might try that out. yeknomyeknom
That's funny. I was just looking briefly at somethingcalled Dance Matt. It's touchtyping for young folk. Just google it. bawdy-nan
My son did this a couple of years ago and it was brilliant http://www.yes-tuitionandtraining.co.uk/index.html Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/159217-touch-typing-for-kids/#findComment-1154727 Share on other sites
crescent
I second *Bawdy-Nan*'s recommendation: Yes Tuition and Training run typing courses in the mornings based at Sydenham High (the private school on Westwood Hill) this summer holiday. My son (now y9) was taking for-ev-er to do his HW when he moved to secondary school as everything had to be typed suddenly. We signed him up to these lessons, and it made such a difference. I learned my/ our lesson, and so DD1 (just about to start secondary school) has just done 8 hrs of typing over 4 mornings this week. It takes about 8-10 lessons we have found. Not cheap, but these and swimming lessons have been the best money ever spent...
