  1. Yes it's driving us mad too. It's clearly new as we have been hearing it regularly but only for the last few weeks. A nightmare with the windows open in this heat. Poor dog must be miserable.
  2. I can deal with the noise, as some others say, it gives off a summery vibe. But as a close resident, people peeing on the bushes, trees and walls is grim. An increase in randoms scoping out local vehicles and side returns at night is common as well.

  4. The word is a known racist slur, this is clear and indisputable. The owner's opinion is irrelevant to this fact. Cakes and coffee to not fix this fact, they appease an individual at best, but do not address the racism. Racist slurs should not be used as names for businesses or anything else. If the owner denies the slur or refuses to address it, there is something wrong. How anyone can argue anything other and then say they are not a racist is baffling to me. To the original poster, thank you for pointing this out. I am sorry you are having to deal with this. I am sorry you are being questioned on this matter when your view point is clear and justified. I have written to our local MP and councillors to complain and will not be a customer of this business again. Best wishes.
  5. Indeed. In fact their post is a direct copy and paste of my very own post from earlier in the year on page 1. ianr Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Note that the newly registered ozgevid poster > resurrected this thread from a year's silence and > edited their post three hours after posting to > include, for profit, a couple of unrelated links, > vidmate.app and saveinsta, to commercial > websites. > > That would be their sole aim. 6. If you support XR then I know even a little can help. Bringing campers flasks of tea, baked goods etc is always much appreciated, especially in the mornings. I think it?s a nice way to show your support if you can?t be more active.
  7. A cat is in our house and reluctant to leave. Unfortunately my partner is allergic so it cant stay long. it is a pretty regular cat with flat hair. It has no collar and is very scrawny and appears underfed. I'm not in the habit of feeding others cats but it clearly needed it so has had some milk and a pack of cat food. The doors are open, it wont leave. If you are missing a cat please mail me asap. We are on Forest hill Road near the Rye.
  8. sorry, glitchy computer, delete
  9. If anyone has lost a dog, it might be in Peckham Rye Park. I?ve just walked past the Rye, opposite Harris Boys and a black dog ran by going the other way. It was behind the railings and on its own (although it was dark so hard to tell). The park is closed and locked up. I didn?t know what I was seeing til it was gone but it looked like a medium to large black lab, it had a collar on with round metal discs on it that were clanging together. It was headed towards Peckham.
  10. Hmm, but if you go to the London Underground you have a good chance of finding it open. Either of the above could be gated and locked. You would have to be well equipped to get in. You would have to get to Chislehurst caves first, most likely on a bicycle. Not sure I?m fit enough 🤣
  11. I wonder, if this happened in London where would we go in East Dulwich in the event of a raid? We would have to travel toward the problem to get to an underground station.
  12. Our bell has rung in the middle of the night too at about 3 am. More than once.
  13. Yes I?ve noticed early blooming plants and odd plant behaviour but unfortunately it?s been happening for 3 winters now so not sure it can be called odd anymore. Bit depressing.
  14. Thank you for all your replies (yes she has worked there more than 2yrs). It?s good to read some other opinions on the matter. Everything said so far seems rational and well considered, here is hoping this will apply to this employer in the end also. Fingers crossed.
  15. Looking for some opinions or advice for a friend. My friend is a woman(office manager)in a predominantly male office. She reports directly in to the CEO. The firm is successful but not large so there is no HR etc. In a regular meeting with her and the CEO yesterday, she was putting her point across and being doubted. She said ?perhaps I should get a man to say it to you and then you would listen?. She said this, because this seemed to be the case previously and she was feeling brave. She was trying to stick up for herself for once but didn?t consider the repercussions. The CEO asked if she was accusing him of being sexist and for another example if that was the case. She pointed out a recent recruitment drive where he asked her not to show him anymore women?s cvs. He said she didn?t know the full picture. The meeting ended and he has been very brusque with her since. She has been told today that they will be speaking to her about yesterday in due course. She is worried. I don?t see there is anything she can do but hope her job is safe. Obviously if things progress there is citizens advice etc, hopefully it won?t come to this. It isn?t an option for her to leave this company for another job as she works in a limited market. What would you do?
  16. We?ve eaten from all the above. Fine, normal Chinese. But once recently I ordered from Lovely House Dim Sum on Bellenden Rd because it was open earliest. I just ordered a Chicken Chow Mein but it was fresh and lovely and afterwards I didn?t feel dirty or regretful. Now I order it from there regularly and mean to try other things once the Xmas fat has worn off. Might be worth a go.
  17. Yep. The Goodlife Centre as above is great for beginners. It?s very laid back and friendly.
  18. Thank you re the voles. I think I did see the larger male vole in my garden. How exciting!
  19. We have had no post for 3 weeks and we usually see our postie every day. We even bought him some Quality Street to give at Xmas. But it?s been so long we have eaten them. We have 5 key Xmas presents for our child that didn?t turn up even though they were ordered late November to early December. Tracking shows they were handed to Royal Mail but never reached the 2nd of 4 stages ?in transit?. Over ?200 worth of product. Our kid is still going stuff will arrive in the new year. The postie really will be like Santa then.
  20. I have just seen what to all intents and purposes was a rat running under the garden fence. I only saw it scamper then it?s butt trying to squeeze under. It looked like a rat because it was that specific rat brown colour. Fur (hair not feathers) and a tail. But! The tail was not a rats tail. It was an inch long at most, brown and pointed. This was a big creature, like a Guinea pig size. We are near the rye. What could it have been? I want to say vole but they are tiny.
  21. Above I recommended Catford Glass. I have had cause to use them again recently and the service was abominable. So please ignore my above recommendation, I would advise you avoid them and apologise if anyone followed my previous positive recommendation.
  22. Great, we will be over with food and some other bits for Xmas.
  23. Hi, do you need donations this year? Are the drop off hours and requirements the same?
