Daughter going to Newcastle Uni mid Sept

How about a motor home for a few days and make it a fun road trip. -
Chirpomatic is a great app for identifying bird sound. I use it all the time.
-
Oops. That will explain why it was so good at identifying worms. Lol. offspinner Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > yeknomyeknom Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > can I recommend the app Seek by iNaturist > > It's iNaturalist. The Italian Sparrows have arrived for their annual holiday near Peckham Rye. Also, can I recommend the app Seek by iNaturist as a site I have been using that is really good for identifying plants AND bugs or animals. It?s free (which is rare), easy to use and owned by the national geographic, set up to register sightings for their scientists to analyse. It?s much better than apps I?ve paid for previously.

Gala setting up on Peckham Rye
yeknomyeknom replied to beansprout's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Men peeing in all the bushes on the outskirts of the park, constantly, even though there are plentiful toilets nearby with no visible queues, is worse than the noise. Disgusting, flagrant selfishness. We?ve complained to Gala but not a lot they can do other than provide plentiful toilets. -
Slightly different question following on from this. Is diy allowed on Sundays? Ie a bit of drilling and hammering in the garden? Seems tricky to get anything done on just a Saturday. Everything on Southwark seems to be related to builders noise and construction.

I have been doing this. It?s not easy. I cut back the calories, I found going to bed early helps me not over eat. I also bought a rebounder (mini trampoline) which is about the most fun exercise I could stomach. You can kind of jog on the spot on it and just dance or jump to music or even just watch Tv and bounce, which I also found bearable. I did splash out on an elastic bungee one though, the spring ones make a racket. Good luck!

can anyone recommend a dermatologist
yeknomyeknom replied to bettyorange's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, no experience sorry. But I did read about these guys recently and thought it looked good for acne. Cant personally recommend but maybe worth a look. https://www.dermatica.co.uk/ -
The Paxton have confirmed they have done away with their kids play area.
-
We recently went to the Rosendale in West Dulwich which has a tiny little play area apart from the tables but still visible, which was great. Hoping for more of the same. I once heard the pub near the back exit of Forest a hill Station had a play area but unconfirmed. https://www.therosendale.co.uk/

You absolutely can train a dog not to bark at the wrong times, if you want to. It takes a bit of effort but not that much. You can train new dogs or old dogs. You can do it kindly and at no detriment to the dog. So anyone who hasn?t trained their dogs not to do this, in a built up area like we mostly live in, has simply decided to not focus on that training for whatever reason. Unfortunately, amongst many things, the last year and a half has illustrated to me that consideration of others is far from the forefront of a lot of people?s priorities.

Does anyone know of any localish pubs with a slide or play area or space for a child to play a little outside? Used to be loads when I was a child (crosses fingers and hopes this doesn?t turn into a thread about the suitability of kids in pubs).

How much screen time should I let my child have
yeknomyeknom replied to mummyparvizi's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I agree with Mariamadeit. Here is an article I enjoyed reading and refer to sometimes. http://project-based-homeschooling.com/camp-creek-blog/sliver-or-how-stop-fighting-about-screen-time -
Why not wear a mask though? What?s the harm? Isn?t it better to be safe than sorry? I really don?t understand people?s reservations. Ok, they are uncomfortable, but a little discomfort for potentially helping spread a deadly disease? Come on.....

And of course, Forest Hill Road is a residential road also, having to deal with the ridiculous speeds daily.

Warning - Dangerous hole on Forest Hill Road
yeknomyeknom replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well yes. I assumed this part was obvious but for the forum I should have been more explicit to avoid being scolded. Needless to say (to some) I didn?t think they were there chewing their fingernails, I simply wanted to caution drivers that the hole is not yet fixed and to be careful. -
Warning - Dangerous hole on Forest Hill Road
yeknomyeknom replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks, someone reported it on there this morning. Thames Water had a look at it last night but left without taking any action. It?s much bigger today, about 1m x 0.5m and growing pretty quickly. Be super careful if going that way. -
This is for anyone travelling by road down Forest Hill Road today. If you know anyone coming home this way please warn them. Near the French Cafe, a pothole has developed in the middle of the road. It?s rather deep and water is springing out of it and wetting the road all around making it a real hazard. It?s now dark and if you are familiar with the roads you might be surprised and taken unaware by the hole so please be very careful especially if on a 2 wheeled vehicle. This has been reported by several of the houses along the way so hopefully will be actioned soon. We contacted both Thames Water and Southwark emergency team (at 2pm today).

You car could break down when you are out driving to an exercise destination. That is why exercising near home is encouraged. It also means you might stop for petrol which doesn?t help minimise the spread.

safest masks to protect ourselves against covid??
yeknomyeknom replied to TwinkleToes's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The u-mask is supposed to be good. The entire Formula 1 teams wear them and they are pretty hot on technology and innovation. -
