I like his/her cold commercial take on it... wrote littleEDfamily

How perspicacious of you littleEDfamily, I'm very impressed!

For your information I am an entrepreneur and have run businesses for forty years,

many believed I was best at starting businesses rather than running them long term,

which I feel takes a different type of personality.

When my daughter was born a darling friend of mine's sister was diagnosed with cancer and had to induce the birth of her baby so they could get started with chemotherapy. She obviously was coming to terms with so many things but something that upset her to the core was that she couldn't breastfeed and there wasn't enough donated for her baby to have anything. I am one of those very lucky few who had an enormous amount of milk and could express a lot in a short amount of time so therefore I offered to express for her. I think as I was feeding my daughter she just trusted that I was being sensible (plus she trusted me as i was her sisters great friend). Anyway, I was able to express enough (also added to my friend (her sister) who also did the same thing, enough for her to give breast milk for the first 6 weeks of her daughters life. This is something I did easily and with no thought but bizarrely if I had just been feeding my daughter i definitely would have had a glass of wine most night, spicy foods, citrus foods etc but I didn't want to "risk" her daughter so I actually was a lot more careful as it was for someone elses daughter.

Anyway, i'm waffling, what this was meant to say is I think the cost of breast milk is immeasurable and in my eyes if you have enough of it then it should be given for free for babies who can't for whatever reason get breast milk in the first few precious weeks of their life.

Pebbles; you are lovely. I may, or may not, have shed a little tear.

My Mum expressed for all and sundry in her day and when she was looking after my cousin, she breastfed her as she wouldn't take a bottle. No one batted an eyelid, it was all for the babes. However, when I showed her the article, I thought she was going to be sick. I think she's of the 'breast is best...for babies' camp.

    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.
    • I made sure to set off a few today just to rile you guys up 😇😂 Always looking for something to criticise
    • Ugly...maybe..does it bother me..NO! I think its somehow reassuring to see theres still phoneboxes around. East Dulwich may  be getrified but there may well be some elderly people who don't have mobiles and kids who may have lost theirs adults ditto etc etc. I'd rather keep it than lose it...just because i don't use it does'nt mean its not needed.  there are many eyesores in the modern world not all of them as potentially useful.
    • I strongly recommend Balayage salon in Lordship lane as everytime I visit, they make me feel very spicial with thier profisionalism and care.   I have been going there for the last 10 years maybe more, and will never exchange them for any other. They are profisional, welcoming and they also always have an offer. I feel like a new woman every time. X
