  1. Funny I always thought it was because of the extra strain pregnancy puts on a woman's body leading to (in some cases) extreme tiredness, varicose veins, and an assortment of other charming ailments not always immediately obvious to other people.... It is, of course, a woman's right to decline the offer of a seat!
  2. Brilliant thank you! We're stuck in traffic on our way there now so glad to hear it won't be a wasted trip!
  3. Literally! I'm moving out and have lots of rubbish, need to take it to the tip (lewisham) but it lists a reuse and recycling centre only, does anyone know if they take refuse??
  4. Fairlawn is a great choice! I have no experience of the other so nothing against it but my son loved Fairlawn
  5. No not scary at all. I caught the mum and she said he was recommended to her etc so will try and find the website!
  6. I went to a party where there was a Spider-Man! I'll see if I can grab the mum in the playground thus afternoon to see who it was
  7. My late August boy settled in well too, took a few weeks but I'm not sure either that he would have benefitted from part time school.
  8. I don't think I've ever had a negative comment either, and have been approached by people, often older ladies, telling me that it's wonderful to see. I remember being mortified when I first was out on a bus and my son needed feeding but at the end of the day he needed to be fed and anyone with a problem can move/look away.
  9. I have one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007I7KLHK Which is not very stylish but has been great as it doesn't need to be stuck to the furniture, and has stayed on pretty well. I need it for another week but after that you're welcome to it, or I have various table corner stick on protectors you can have now, pm me if you'd like them!
  10. CMs are self employed so will vary in their rates, what is included (ie food, nappies, wipes etc), hours and days worked, whether holidays are paid, how many weeks holiday they take etc. They may have a daily rate as well as an hourly rate. The best thing is probably to register on childcare.co.uk, search for childminders in your area and send out a lot of emails! Not what you wanted to hear I'm sure but it'll give you a good idea of what it might cost..
  11. Perhaps keep a diary of what you've eaten then how you feel, could be that some foods make you more/less tired than others..
  12. If in person possibly Claire kedves at kings? Don't have a number I'm afraid but someone else prob will, if online then there are many on here that fit your description! Not sure about current locations of breast feeding cafes, someone will no doubt be along shortly to help with that!
  13. There are some low carb recipes in the wheat belly cookbook, which is wheat free but substitutes things like ground almonds and coconut flour rather than other grain flours. Might be worth googling that too, there are a few blogs with recipes, will have a look and pm recipes if I ever get my little girl to go to sleep! Sorry you've got it again, though having been through it before I hope it wasnt such a shock for you! Hope all is otherwise well with your pregnancy xx
  14. Reminded me of the attached pic that someone put up on Facebook..
  15. Your daughter will make friends with kids living close to her too, if you accept the place at Fairlawn. I've never heard a bad word spoken about it..
  16. Lots will be going to charity but(apart from here and eBay) does anyone know of good places to sell books? All sorts really, cook books, technical/study books, etc..? Any ideas would be welcome! Thanks Helen
  17. Is his willy sore at all or red anywhere? Does he say it hurts to wee? Could be foreskin infection?
  18. Anyone had luck with switching to the 'that or nothing' camp with kids 3 plus? I suspect I would get extreme resistance from both kids and poss their dad...

This isn't quite right, you put your six schools down and the first school you are in the catchment for will offer you a place. Eg if you put Kilmorie, Dalmain, stillness, beecroft, Fairlawn and Horniman, and are too far from the first three but in catchment for the fourth, you'll get offered beecroft, and they won't continue down the line to consider you for the last two. It makes sense to put them in order of preference but the schools don't know what order you put them in so can't exclude you for putting them further down the list...
  20. My son is in reception at stillness and everything seems pretty good so far. The above comments about distances are true unfortunately but there are other very good schools around, Dalmain for example, so I don't think you'll go wrong if you move up here!
  21. Have a look on the edtots website perhaps http://www.edtots.co.uk/ Or there's a publication on the southwark website, named let's go or similar, should have some ideas
