  1. I think other people's dilemmas are always much easier to deal with! Good luck x
  2. Probably worth calling a few childminders? You may need to pay for a full day for each child, or maybe a higher hourly rate, but each childminder has his or her own way of charging so its difficult to generalise. Also probably worth asking if there are any other parents whose child has the same nursery hours as your child whether they could help? Some of them may be registered themselves, or you could do reciprocal childcare? Could you go back to work two or three full days rather than half days? (though I may have misunderstood your post)
  3. I took mine to a bike shop but the brake has a round bit on the end ( both ends, from memory) and a bike brake has the round bit on one end only. They did say they would fit it for me if I could get my hands on a bugaboo brake though. Lots of them break at the place where the chassis folds, rather than the brake, so you might be lucky if you appeal on here or check eBay gumtree Craig's list preloved etc...
  4. You might be able to find a brake on eBay, or if someone on here has a broken chassis you could take one off that and put it on yours? It was a bit of a faf but I managed it , perhaps just take a picture of how it's supposed to look before you take everything apart.
  5. They get taught lower case first but are taught to write their own name with a capital letter at the front. I would go with the capital letter at the front. :)
  6. i have a vibe and don't think i could have got a sport, as when i've pushed them i've found i can't stride naturally, something which i find really annoying. I'm not particularly tall at 5ft 7 but its something to consider if your other half will be taking them out too and is taller etc.. can't comment on the other models, promenade sounds great though, hadn't heard much about them!
  7. what a good idea! will bring up the pet idea next time hubby starts talking about another...
  8. ( puts hand up) Doctor says I'm too young!
  9. I've been to messy play there Friday mornings, it is seriously under used, not a big space if bad weather but a very nice play group, I agree! Worth the bus journey :0)
  10. I for one would need a more involved hubby AND some grandparents within spitting distance to remotely consider a third. People I could just call and say 'come and take my kids, now!, and who would. I always thought I would have three as I have a brother and a sister and we all get along well. I wonder, as so many people have said that they had thought three would be ideal (before cold hard sleep deprived reality set in), whether there is something inbuilt in our genes to make us want to increase the population! Replace ourselves and add one...?
  11. Sorry pebbles wasn't targeting you! I often think about this thread though because the issues raised affect so many of us and yet we all feel so alone in it all sometimes. Thought those who weren't parents at the time but are now might benefit!
  12. My little boy goes there and has been really happy, I would definitely recommend it.
  13. People who have helped me on buses! ESP a driver not long ago who let me on a rammed bus with three prams already because there hadn't been one for ages and it was raining. And all the other passengers that day who just smiled and didn't give me any evil looks. The other day a lady on a bus with a small baby rushed forward to tell the driver she would fold her pram just so another lady could get on. Really nice people in the world, and it helps to remember it ;0)
  14. Me too, tentatively, never having made them before!
  15. I'm pretty happy with the phil and teds vibe, wasn't sold on the other models as when I tried them in the shop I also found I couldn't stride as I normally would. I don't have this problem with the vibe so might be worth checking out. Also the vibe can be folded with the doubles seat on, you tube is the best place for a demo I found. Wheels etc can be removed if its too big for the boot, and your friend is welcome to try mine to see if it fits! Would recommend a v2 version which has 'phil and teds' written down the strut rather than 'vibe', as it has addressed a couple of the issues people had with the first version. Also, if buying second hand see if the person will give you their proof of purchase, this way if something happens you may be able to get it fixed. Congratulations to your friend!
  16. Goose green centre? Or Bellingham soft play if there will be older kids?
  17. Thanks everyone, I'm worried I'm going to throw away something important (like my no claims certificate for car insurance which I did last time, expensive mistake but thought as I didn't have a car anymore why would I need all these documents?!)
  18. Me too, hence my mountain of paper, but my current mantra is EMPTY EMPTY EMPTY!
  19. Hello b, to be honest I can't remember. BUT def not sleeping through, still not at 21 months. I love my little girl to pieces and hate to say anything negative but she has cried a lot since birth as well. I take comfort from the fact that my little boy, nearly four now, has been sleeping through fairly well since about two and a half. Perspective helps a lot!
  20. I keep my bank statements but am having a bit of a spring clean frenzy and would love to get rid of paperwork I don't need. What do I need to keep and what can I get rid of? I have recently become self employed to some extent so know I need to keep anything relevant to my tax returns, but what about past bills, tenancy agreements, etc...?
  21. I haven't seen mad men! Didn't know I was missing out, will remedy as quickly as I can
  22. We went to discovery in Stratford today, wow. There is so much to do, ?4 each to get in and we were there the better part of the day, superheroes, crafts, books and story themed play stuff everywhere (loved the trip trap trip tap bridge for billy goats gruff) and an amazing garden too. Was expecting a long painful journey to get there but got the overground from Honor oak park to Canada water, switched to jubilee line and it's five stops I think from there. Then a ten minute walk to discovery. My kids are 3 3/4 and 1 3/4 and they both had a wonderful time.
  23. Ended up at Dulwich park! Was really nice, haven't been for ages. Thanks for the responses, will go to both I think this week x
