I was mugged outside my house on Glengarry Road at 11.30 pm last night. I sensed I was being followed whilst walking back from the bus stop opposite Domino's pizza and as I went to open my front door a very tall, young man grabbed my handbag. He is over 6 ft, black (pale skin) and was wearing black and a hood. He ran up Tarbert Road and disappeared. I think he saw me get off the bus on my own and followed me down Melbourne Grove. The police said it was really quite unusual for this area so I was unlucky. Please be careful going home from the bus/train and look out of this mugger. If anyone sees a small boxy rigid brown pale leather bag with small pattern on it, please let me know. Thanks.
Thanks for your nice comments. I also should have said I wasn't being daft and talking on my phone, showing off my valuables or had an expensive handbag, or tottering around on high heels, drunk and vulnerable. It was calculated rather than opportunistic in that sense.

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
    • First mate - I wondered if I was imagining things at 4.45 this morning . Apparently not .
