ianr
Members who have read this far may also be interested in consuming a piece of today's Woman's Hour in which (mainly) cupcakes get a deconstructive going-over. It's listenable-to as Chapter 2 ('Infantilisation of food') at the bottom of this page. MissDollyMixture
Dear Ms B,We do our best to answer any questions customers may have and I am most sorry we have fallen short. We have a list of ingredients available for all the products we carry in the shop, as well as on our website. Most of our products are made with natural colours and flavours, including our pick and mix section, and many sweets are made exclusively for us by small independent makers all over the UK. Our natural rhubarb and custard is made exclusively for us and the ingredients are as follow: Sugar, Glucose Syrup, Flavourings ? Natural Vanilla and Rhubarb, Citric Acid, Natural Colours (Anthocyanins (ie plant pigments), Curcumin (ie cumin).Ms B you can also buy Hope and Greenwood sweets in Waitrose!Kindest Regards,Randi McAfeeManager Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16299-hope-greenwood-on-bbc-london-949-fm/page/2/#findComment-420522 Share on other sites
Chase Dulwit
Well things have really changed then. It used to be policy that staff could tell you the provenence of everything they sold, and they should be able to really.Sorry, hadn't seen Randi's reply. Well done. Brendan
Skittles are rubbish as an accompaniment to beer. Despite what idiom would have you believe. Idiom?s a cunt like that sometimes. That's pretty much the answer I expected to get in the shop but maybe the person on that day was a newbie. Interesting that several people on this thread assumed it was mass-manufactured stuff, so hopefully this will raise awareness that all boiled sweets are not the same!Haven't seen the boiled sweets appear in Waitrose yet, but well done for getting in there.
