The Old Nuns Head

Has anyone been to the Old Nun's Head in Nunhead? I ask because I understand the same people who own the Gowlett (Hence the ED link) have refurbished it. I fancy a bit of a walk and a nice lunch at the weekend and wondered if it was a good option.

I've been for several Sunday lunches there and have enjoyed everyone - it could be a bit busier sometimes and the last roast I had, although very nice, was a little underheated

The whole place has a slightly more upmarket feel than the Gowlett (which I also love) and it does make for a very good walk across the Rye

So all in all, recommended

Thanks Sean. Read your comment on the Gowlett with interest. I think the idea is great but the stinky carpet and the droves of kids, kind of let it down. Used to like the Rye but its gone totally none smoking (welcomed by some I'm sure) so its out.

My God that's macabre, I never occured to me to suspect nunhead was so called because of something like that.

It's normally something like a preroman name for a spring called the nun or something daft.
