From what ive found on the net it seems a great place and from what ive seen it seems ok but you know its always best to ask a local to get the low down so what goes on down there people ?

thanks for help

Jon

I moved from Kingswood around 3 years ago, after spending 7 years there. There was rarely any trouble that I knew of. A few groups of youths used to hang around, but they mainly kept to themselves. I often walked home through the estate at night & it was really quiet & I always felt safe.

The estate itself had quite a community feel about it, due to the local shopping parade & Kingswood House/library in the centre.

Transport links were also good as it's 2 mins walk to Sydenham Hill station & 5 mins walk to bus stops to Crystal Palace & Croydon.

Like I said, it has been 3 years since I was there so don't know if anythings changed. There were plans to open a community shop on the parade, where residents would be able to go for help & advice etc, so maybe you could pop in there & find out other peoples opinions on what it's like to live there.

thanks yea i saw the community shop when i was down there but it was sunday and shut lol

thats cool that you felt safe walking about on your own at night that was my only fear as my wife is not very street wise where i am and well built ;) and never get probs

thats handy that the train is near by i did stumball over it when driving around at night and was shocked to see a toll road there :S but it was open when i went thou so was lucky i did not have to pay any thing

thanks for help :D

    • Possibly one of the other local garage owners may know? Also, it's possible if the owners and staff are still in the area that they might see your post. They didn't post on here themselves (to the best of my knowledge) but they must have known that I did, as a couple of times the lady who worked in reception phoned me to ask me if I could  post in the "Lost" section when something dropped in Hansler Road had been handed in to them. Unfortunately I only have their office landline  number, which presumably disappeared when they closed.
    • Well, that was my initial thought too, but having re-read the thread, it seems that the car was left outside Westminster Carpets. Maybe even middle-aged Lotharios can't ignore the low, low prices in their 'Remnants, Offcuts & Roll-End Sale'.   Do you know anyone with a second generation Fiat Punto (1999-2010)? Because 5 to 1, the key will fit.  I'm out of the country, watching the cricket, just now but if you can get it down to the Catford/Sydenham borders in the next couple of hours, I've got a mate who can 'look after' it. It'll be at Tilbury docks by 6 o'clock. Have you ever driven a car with an F1 style, flappy paddle gearbox before?
    • "Isn't a car of interest" but reported stolen? That's bonkers, surely? Has it been stolen or not? Did they say why it wasn't a "car of interest"? Had it been stolen but already recovered by the owner, who has now parked it outside your house? Had  it been stolen but the owner got his sixty grand from the insurance so no longer cares, and the police don't care about it as the thieves have abandoned it? Or don't care because they can't catch the thieves unless they find them driving it? Any other theories? Surely if it had been reported stolen the police might at least want to let the owner know where it was? It seems a bit of an odd car to steal anyway,  being rather noticeable!
