I had this problem for years - one friend I shared a hotel room once and said the noise was "really loud - like someone drilling through a brick wall". It caused me problems with jaw ache and my jaw would click loads when I ate. I think it's one of those things where treatment varies per person, but I had terrific success with calcium/magnesium supplement tablets coupled with multivitamin tablets. Sounds seriously weird, but it really did fix the problem to the extent I don't take them any more. You need to take them for at least a month. I just used the bog-standard Sainsburys ones.

I found it on the internet and tried it more out of desperation than any real belief it would work, but really glad I did.

oh it's definitely anxiety-related tarot! and thanks loz for the cal/mag tip - i might try that as well. i have a great dentist who is in the process of organising 'a rugby-type shield' (!) for me and while i'm grateful for the fact that that may save any further problems to the gnashers - it still won't stop me doing it and giving myself the jaw and head aches. that's why i thought hypnotherapy might help.

would love to hear from anyone who has tried it. for anything. X

There are a few people I know who used Paul Mckenna hypnosis discs, one for losing weight the other to stop smoking.

The woman ,persevered and lost twenty three pounds, it took her seven months to lose that, but she said it took time to put the weight on,so expected it would take that amount of time to take it off! feasable I suppose.

The smoker. a man said it was a load of bxxxxxxs, but I suspect he wanted to smoke dope.

I think you may need an anxiety c,d or d.v.d.

But dont worry. you dont turn into a chicken or anything, give it a crack.

But if you chose a hypnotheripist, make sure his Bon Fide.

    • I can't answer your question. But on them generally: it's changed hands in the last year or so, I think. I paid £35 for interior and exterior and they did a crap job. I'll go to the one on Herne Hill (or just do it myself if health allows) next time.
    • Aria came round to fix my tub drain when I'd messed up the seal. Came within hours, fixed the tub, and ran a bath to make sure it was okay. Here's where the fun starts. While he was over, I asked him questions about the rest of the plumbing round the house. I had just moved into a Victorian home that was previously being rented. Unsurprisingly, we found another leak in the tub and a drip in the kitchen tap.  He came back the next day to put a better pipe in my bathtub and replace the kitchen sink. Painstakingly figured out how to replace the hard-to-access kitchen sink without cutting through the wood panel with the help of his builder friend, Mark. Answered all my questions and clearly knew his stuff. All this right before Christmas holidays!
    • Was that the one where you put a coin in and it squirted water at you? what was the name of the one in hanway street - whatever you ordered it came on a segmented tray like you get in prison (I imagine). Prices were a steal.
