OliviaDee
anyone ever tried it and got some advice - one way or the other? i'm thinking of giving it a go for teeth-grinding which i just can't stop doing - awake or asleep. wrecking my teeth and giving myself an awful permanent tension headache.just not sure whether it's bunkum or not.... Loz
I had this problem for years - one friend I shared a hotel room once and said the noise was "really loud - like someone drilling through a brick wall". It caused me problems with jaw ache and my jaw would click loads when I ate. I think it's one of those things where treatment varies per person, but I had terrific success with calcium/magnesium supplement tablets coupled with multivitamin tablets. Sounds seriously weird, but it really did fix the problem to the extent I don't take them any more. You need to take them for at least a month. I just used the bog-standard Sainsburys ones.I found it on the internet and tried it more out of desperation than any real belief it would work, but really glad I did. binary_star
Hmm I actually might try that Loz. Atm I sleep with a rugby gum shield in most nights! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16657-hypnotherapy/#findComment-425638 Share on other sites
Tarot
Neuro-linguistic programming is usually used in hypnotherapy and it is very effective.Usually a good dentist would help you with your teeth, there is a school of thought that thinks teeth grinding is a sign of anxiety.Back in the day they used to say it was caused by thread worms. OliviaDee
oh it's definitely anxiety-related tarot! and thanks loz for the cal/mag tip - i might try that as well. i have a great dentist who is in the process of organising 'a rugby-type shield' (!) for me and while i'm grateful for the fact that that may save any further problems to the gnashers - it still won't stop me doing it and giving myself the jaw and head aches. that's why i thought hypnotherapy might help. would love to hear from anyone who has tried it. for anything. Tarot
There are a few people I know who used Paul Mckenna hypnosis discs, one for losing weight the other to stop smoking. The woman ,persevered and lost twenty three pounds, it took her seven months to lose that, but she said it took time to put the weight on,so expected it would take that amount of time to take it off! feasable I suppose. The smoker. a man said it was a load of bxxxxxxs, but I suspect he wanted to smoke dope.I think you may need an anxiety c,d or d.v.d.But dont worry. you dont turn into a chicken or anything, give it a crack. But if you chose a hypnotheripist, make sure his Bon Fide. Guest
Definitely works for some people. I'd recommend Andrew Parr. He's very nice and straightforward and I believe he's in London a couple of days a week. Not cheap but it may well only take a couple of sessions.
