Blah Blah
They will be out in 2-3 years and no doubt terrorising the public again. Laughing and joking during a sentencing hearing shows how little regard they have for what they have done. JohnL
They sound very immature - not sure how you deal with that, at least separate them."Evening Standard editor George Osborne was among those who fell victim to Parkinson's crew"I feel so sorry for him. Sadly, I suspect they'll get an education in further barbarity and general criminality. malumbu
Loads of uninformed comments, well done, like reading the Daily Mail.Yes the system is failing, and maybe they will re-offend. Having friends who have worked with offenders both inside and out of prison, occasionally things do work. robbin
Really John? Is that what you glean from the fact that the defendants were openly joking and giggling in the Crown Court throughout their sentencing hearing (as the Court was played video of several of their robberies including one where a woman's earring was ripped out)? That's a good sign? I'm afraid in the real world its a sign that they are hardened to the Courts and don't give a monkey's, or have any respect for the Judge and are not afraid of going to prison. I suspect if you worked in the legal system and regularly witnessed the attitude of quite a number of those convicted of robberies like this, you would not be quite so naive. They didn't just start committing crimes just this last year, obviously! robbin
It is widely reported that they all had 'numerous' previous criminal convictions starting in their early teens and were also at the time of their robberies subject to criminal behaviour orders (and so were apparently completely unconcerned about those as well). JohnL
I hoped it meant they were very immature - maybe wrong (:I'd separate them by 100s of miles and work on them (even brainwash them) individually - although whether the system can do that is unknown to me. DulwichFox
Mopeds used in these attacks are often stolen so offenders are untraceable. Mopeds have been stolen at knife point.. Moped 'Gangs' have used acid to steal bikes. This is part of a Massive crime spree. If these crimes were being carried out by 'Religious Extremists' they would be treated as Acts of Terrorism. Which is in effect what they are, and need to be treated as such. 4 years (out in 18 months) is not enough. Realistic sentencing is needed. In a Hard place. These people are dangerous. JohnL
If this was committed under the "soft" Labour government (David Blunkett Home Secretary) they'd probably get an IPP for this.http://metro.co.uk/2017/08/15/imprisonment-for-public-protection-what-is-an-ipp-prisoner-6851756/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/170217-london-moped-gang-jailed-for-18-yrs/#findComment-1184415 Share on other sites
