Gosh, I had forgotten all about this post.

This thread is like a cow pat. It makes a stink and attracts flies when it first appears then forms a crust and can be forgotten about until someone steps in it (brummie I'm looking at you) and the flies return....bzzzz

Someone said to me once that M&S was quality because their food were wrapped up in fancy packaging. Shame about people who have no taste buds but do their tasting through adverts and fancy packaging.

Personally, the standard of food found along the shops in LL easily surpasses M&S.

I totally agree on the quality of most of the delicious foods found on LL, no comparison really.. Part of my weekly shopping budget is ring-fenced for East Dulwuch Deli amongst other places.

As far as supermarkets go, M&S in my most humble of opinion (followed cloeely by Waitrose) can't be beaten. :)-D

    • As the days shorten having evening fireworks for e.g. birthday parties becomes more realistic, the idea that fireworks is only about Guy Fawkes day or New Year's Eve is not a rule. I personally do not like fireworks, but other do, and I would see no reason to stop other's pleasure. I am sure the local Puritans will object, and there are issues about disturbing wild life with unexpected noise. But I'm in favour of simple pleasures. And many do like fireworks.

    • Most churches rent out halls for children's' parties but rarely adult parties, Christ Church only does afternoon parties,   The East Dulwich Community centre hires out halls to 9 pm only and all music needs to be on a sound restrictor as is in a residential area. St Johns with St Clements have a small hall but not sure if they allow adult parties. Nunhead Green has a newish community centre with a couple of different size halls. Most places seem to charge around £40 ph  with a deposit of £100/200 (returned if no damage or excess cleaning needed.
