I really want to buy a wooden wendy house as a joint bday present for my kids. I've just spent the last few hours with my mouth wide open with what is on offer - oh my god i wish i was still a kid!!!

So, could i just go down the garden shed option or are they just not very child friendly? i've noticed on a few wendy house sites that they don't have locks but instead magnets so no one can get locked in and also i'm thinking maybe it's easy to get splinters with sheds????

If i do go down the wendy house option does anyone know of a good website?

OR if anyone is thinking of getting rid of theirs just shout.

Thanks

Sally

OMG that's hysterical, are there people out there who would really buy that? wow

love the fact that yours is assembled as I can imagine buying one and it staying in the garden in a pile for a few years before we get around to building it. did it cost extra to be built?

thanks

it was a little more expensive (obviously) to have them erect it, but well worth the money as it was done properly (ie. no nails sticking out, watertight roof etc etc) and quickly (in about 30 minutes).

It's worth mentioning also that you do need to prepare the ground beforehand - it'll need to sit on a level, flat base which i suppose could be your garden if it's really flat, or a patio/ decked area. we dug out & made a concrete base but that was only because our garden was on a slope.

I looked at all the lovely timber wendy houses and tree houses etc....and then decided I was buying them for me not little snowboarder!! Just ordered him one of the plastic little tikes ones so we don't have to worry about weathering/splinters/putting it up....and seeing as all he generally wants to do is open and shut the window shutters hopefully it should do the job! I've given in to the whole plastic overload thing...

    • I think it's a good idea and follows the example of other towns/areas. As it says in the article, the area around the main tourist attractions in Southwark, that is The Globe, Southwark Cathedral, Tate Modern and the whole walking route from London Bridge to Blackfriars, takes a lot of maintaining and it shouldn't be a burden on regular council tax payers like us.
