And the added fairy dust from them gadgies what done that LAX with that Rachel Stevens, would make it a sure-fire number one toppermost of the poppermost, Jezza.

I feel a letter writing campaign coming on. Let's fire out epistles to people of influence.

I reckon Prince Phillip first.

Agreed, but for that LAX song she was just right.

Them gadgies that done the LAX song for 'Sharkie' Stevens knows their onions I tell you.

"I suppose it would be pointless to wonder whether Azerbaijan is in Europe?"

You should see the football European conference. Kazakhstan with a hundreds of miles bordering China and it's eastern edge almost on a latitudinal par with the likes of Burma?!?! Maybe any country with an 'irish' pub in it counts?

I once met a bunch of Irishmen in a pub in Grozny or some hellhole - they were the faux Irish Pub installation team. Thye would literally board a jet with an entire pub in IKEA form waitng for them at the other end and get it up and running in 48 hours - complete with rusty Bicycles, tiddly dee folk music and dusty guinness signs. Up there with the BigMac index, its an alternative way of assessing the development stage of a country or city.
I must confess I did watch it, I was surprised how many European countries sang in English the last time I watch Eurovision was in the 80s things definitely moved on since then and what I do not understand is if it is a European contest how comes Israel can enter the competition?

    • If the local archive doesn't suffice there's also the London Archives. I remember using what was then called the London Metropolian archive some years ago, and viewing Street Directories among other things  there. https://www.thelondonarchives.org/your-research/research-guides
    • You've sent me down a rabbit hole here! According to the 1909/10 street directory, 10 Whateley Road was the address for John Gibson, beer retailer.   He was born about 1860 in Walworth and his father, also called John, was a beer retailer as well. By the time of the 1891 census, John Gibson Junior had moved to 10 Whateley Road and described himself as a beer house manager. He was married to Margaret and had a son and a daughter. John and Margaret were still living at the address 30 years later when he described himself as a beer retailer. His mother's name was Charlotte Sarah and there is an entry from the same street directory as above for someone by that name described as a beer and wine retailer at 42 North Cross Road. This was most likely his mother, now described as a widow.   Hoping this is of interest.
    • A long overdue review for Niko who we have used a number of times over the years, sometimes to properly finish a job that other plumbers have not done properly. He thinks of everything! I only ever use another plumber if it's urgent and Niko is away. A really kind and thoughtful man and totally trustworthy
    • At the time of posting previously, we had no idea of the dates we would be having the children. The maths place - you pay for a course of lessons . The coding session would be good but you need to book well in advance. Also grandson has been doing coding since 6 years old. He now has a 'mentoring role' at his primary school as his knowledge of this subject is years above his chronological age. Dates are still up in the air as their father is trying to juggle leave from a new job in the north of the country.
