I understand, but feel free to correct me if you know better, that posting the details of an incident would not result in a witness that can be relied upon by the police / courts as basically you have told them the details and are looking for corrobation

I would personally edit severely to "anybody witness an attack on Bellenden road" - please contact the police as a witness

Uzzy - what bit of Bellenden Road was it? I cycled down the road on the way to work at about 8.15 this morning - can't recall offhand anyone hanging about at that point.

As I have said in a post which was lounged, it would be really helpful for the orginal poster to include the date in the headline - particularly in this case where the date is key when searching for witnesses.
