Does anyone have any views on the above?

DVPS is much the cheapest of the three so I would prefer it to be great but have read some negative past postings on it. Have they sorted out their issues or is it still a mess and not to be touched?

Buds - terribly website and poor admin - should I be worried this presages a bad experience even if the nrusery is ok?

Oakfield - am yet to go round as they have an open day on 21/6. Am attracted to it as they have a new head who I gather from friends is excellent.

So, any thoughts appreciated really!

I can't comment on the other two, but my son goes to Buds and he loves it there.

So much so that, after much, deliberating, I have forfeited his place at Goodrich nursery so he can stay at Buds for another year.

The staff are genuinely warm and friendly and really care for the children.

Granted, the website is not the best. But I haven't experienced any admin problems.

my son is happy with Buds, and so am I. :)

I think you'll find a few views around on a variety of threads. Also from a Buds parent - I think it's absolutely fine for small children. Not remarkably well organised, no remarkable educational programme going on, but warm staff, a friendly atmosphere, lots of greenery - I was a bit doubtful at first as my son had been at a more highly structured nursery, but to be honest, I think space, freedom and warmth are probably what pre-schoolers need, the children do really seem happy to be there, especially now it's summer and they can run around outside or go into Cox's Walk next door.

Hi Anna

My children are at Oakfield and have been there since nursery. They love it and are progressing very well there. They are happy and thriving and receive the attention they require.

It's a difficult decision but I'm sure you will make the right choice.

Best wishes

Kim

Many thanks everyone.

Kimmy, may I just ask you: are there any pros (or cons) of being at a "school nursery", as it were? Are there things I would not otherwise consider? eg my husband wondered if the older children (aged all of eg 8 I suppose) might be both a good and a bad thing. Thanks

    • Thanks all!  KateS - boulangerie Jade is a nice cafe, but they don't do fresh cream cakes. Their eclairs are filled with patisserie cream (a kind of custard), not fresh cream. Azalea- thanks and I've been to Bunhead Bakery (a Palestinian bakery) in Herne Hill a few times. There's a nice chocolate bun they do, which is amazing when then sauce is warmed up. But I haven't seen any fresh cream things there, only white icing. Maybe it's only on a certain day.  And the last time I checked, Ayres bakers in Nunhead don't do fresh cream things. These are the kind of fresh baked goods I'm thinking of....
    • Warning to parents using the playground in Dulwich Park. My daughter and her friends found a bag of ‘crunchy powder’ in the children’s playground this morning around 11ish. They thought it was ‘popping candy’ and all tried some before seen with it. Request to parents using the playground - if you see plastics bags with suspect looking contents or powder on the floor in the playground or park: pick it up and throw it in the bin. Don’t walk past and think someone else will deal with it. The next person to walk by might be a child who could pick it up not understanding what it could be. Hopefully our daughter and her friends will be ok and it’s a lucky escape. But please be aware in case anyone else’s child may have found it before them.
    • I’m looking for some ply sheets, ideally 9mm or 12mm. It doesn’t have to look good. As long as it’s not rotten it’ll be fine. I’d like bigger sheets, but I’m open to whatever anyone’s got. If you can help, drop me a DM.  Cheers
    • the only known name is from that poster in the window where it says to email [email protected]. I thought that website might shed some light on who is creating the posters I hope whoever was attacked is doing ok, but agree there is something very off/vigilante-ish about all of this
