Husband and I are considering a last-minute holiday for the bank holiday weekend and would appreciate any recommendations. It'll be our first holiday without our little girl (who'll be enjoying her time with the grandparents) so really after the following:

- lots of relaxation (heated indoor swimming pool, sauna etc)

- lie-ins (can't even remember what those were like but know I desperately need them again)

- a spa

- lots of lovely meals

- easy reach from London (no more than an hour drive or train ride)

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated by a very sleep-deprived mother:o)

Hi

There is a hotel and spa in Wilmington - near Dartford, called Utopia. Went there a few years ago and it was lovely and relaxing.

Also, heard on the radio that Southern trains have an offer on tickets to Brighton this weekend for 50p...haven't checked this out tho.

Enjoy your break!! (v jealous!)

Thanks Kemurf! Baby's in bed so surfing time begins:o) Will check Utopia out now...

We went to Charlton House in Somerset on a special package and thought it was very good value. The spa is amazing!! The food was decent and the building itself is lovely. We had planned to go as a couple but had to reschedule and take our son, and even with him we had a lovely time and they were so accommodating of him.

There are some special offers with the SunDial group. At their Highgate House they are doing ?60 per room with breakfast and dinner this weekend. It may sound cheap but this is a special deal and they don't advertise their special offers other than on their website and you have to search for it. I have been a couple of times before and really enjoyed it. The food has always been top restaurant quality, the rooms are very clean and is a beautiful place to relax.

    • The stop outside the chippy was still closed earlier today, although the barriers I saw yesterday have been removed, so no need for the closure.  The stop outside the church across the road is now uncovered and open
    • You all have different and conflicting interests though. It isn't necessarily appropriate for him to communicate with all of you at the same time about the same issues.    You're giving more away with each post as to how these difficulties probably arose.
    • @CPR Dave He needs to communicate collectively with all of the beneficiaries.  That is the whole point of my original post.  Electronic communications are the best way of doing this, as I am doing now on this forum.  Apart from the gold digger who will get a six figure sum the rest of us are on four figures, and that is going down by the day. I'm offended by any suggestion that we are not behaving well.  What on earth do you mean?
    • Surprise, surprise. It didn't take them long, did it. This will be something of a test as to how much the council really care about parks and the environment. A footfall of 60,000. Are they mad? There is no way this park is designed for or can sustain that sort of use. Just had a look at the schedule. If allowed to go ahead, this will involve a large slice of the park (not the common) sectioned off and out of use for three weeks of May and the first week of June. Here's an idea, why not trial the festival in one of the other Southwark Parks, so the 'goodness' can be shared around the borough?
