I need to get certified proof of identity - cheaply

Hi all

I need to get certified proof of identity for me, my OH and another person. This would involve me rocking up to a high street bank manager/an accountant/ a regulated financial adviser/a solicitor/licensed conveyancer. Can anyone suggest who is likely to be the cheapest - and how much it is likely to cost?

I doubt any would give certified ID unless they have known you for three years or more. What do you all need this ID for? Might be better off getting a copy of your birth certificate

Any solicitor will certify a copy of your passport if that is what you need- it is just certifying that the copy is a true copy of the original document - they normally won't sign passport forms etc because then you are required to certify that you have known the person for 3 years. Pop into Glazer Delmar on Northcross Road tomorrow and I could do it for you - the cost is ?5 per document.

Some Post Offices do offer this service - the P.O. on Lordship Lane is one, I got all my docs verified there for my last passport to avoid having to send original documents through the post.

Hi all - I was actually getting this done for some conveyancing work - to be done in Wales. In the end, I went to the bank and they did it FREE!
