I think a lot of the reason is that people are growing disillusioned with football as the commercial side of the game has become so prominent that there is little room left for things like national pride. When the England football team play it is a secondary thing for the players whereas when the rugby team play it is the pinnacle of what those players can achieve. The fans pick up on this kind of stuff.

Thanks Trinity - she did enjoy it although 5 hours of pretty full on exercise a day left her somewhat cream crackered (I would have died). And yes - she'll be doing netball in her next 'module' - Personally I think we as a nation should concentrate on one or two sports we can excel at - instead of spreading ourselves thinly over everything - and rule the world in those: tiddlywinks anyone?

    • Hello, I'm from Ireland and would love my children to be able to know the language - I can speak it but I'm not so good at teaching it. If there's anyone local who used to teach Irish at primary school (preferably Connemara Irish) and who'd like to tutor 3 boys aged 7-10 for an hour or two a week please do let me know. Thanks, Sarah
