Charm personified. Such a constructive, helpful and friendly contribution.
  2. There are numbers from our esteemed Home Secretary in that article, so I would imagine that ?three hundred thousand, and thirty four, nine hundred and seventy four thousand? something or others are involved.
  3. It was named after Tessa Jowell because local people selected the name amongst many other options in a public vote. Obviously those who had a higher opinion of her than you did.
  4. James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi dc, > I believe you know this dc but you have a party > political axe to grind. Honestly, my political axes are ground out having worked for Tessa Jowell for 23 years until 2015 when she stood down as the local MP. I was speaking about the specific case of the hospital site and I?m sure you might understand that I?m not hugely keen to have my former boss written out of the history of that particular story. Especially when the record shows me to be telling the truth: /forum/read.php?5,1407450,page=1 /forum/read.php?29,1405452,1408612#msg-1408612

I agree, it would be a real > shame if it was bulldozed. To be accurate Mr Barber was the driving force behind getting an unwanted primary school approved for the site, the catchment area for which, rather bizarrely, would have been towards Nunhead. A whole load of unravelling was required by committed parents? groups, councillors and the then MP, Tessa Jowell, to sort that one out so that the more appropriate secondary school, in terms of local need for our community, was built there instead. As far as I am aware it has always been the plan to retain at least the facade of the ?chateau? former main entrance structure.
  6. The conditions will provide for the fact that the new stadium has to be ?completed and operational? before work commences on the residential development. It?s rather hard to see that condition being circumvented in plain sight.

It is the Peckham West CPZ that is due to go live shortly (not ED). As the ?Coronavirus? section of Southwark?s site (linked to by @Paulo above) explains, many aspects of parking enforcement generally have been put on hold. In that zone specifically (PW) there will be an extended period of warning notices. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/health-and-wellbeing/public-health/for-the-public/coronavirus/coronavirus-parking-restrictions-and-controlled-parking-zones
  8. The magic of the FA Cup returns to Champion Hill today with Dulwich Hamlet taking on Eastbourne Borough at 3pm. As usual, ?12 for Adults, ?5 for a wide range of concessions and under 13s go free. Turnstiles open from noon.
  9. I raised it already. My point is there is little correlation between the introduction of this charge and the political control of local authorities and it is disingenuous to pretend otherwise. There are 3 LibDem controlled councils in London and they all charge for garden waste collection. Kingston, as detailed above, Sutton which charges ?65 pa and Richmond where you have to buy a designated bin for ?28 and there is then an ongoing charge of ?35 every six months (or ?26 every six months if you?re over 75).
  10. So why was LibDem Kingston one of the first Boroughs in London to introduce such a charge and why is their fee (?72) almost two and a half times that proposed by Southwark? Please don?t treat us like children and do a ?let?s pretend? that your lot wouldn?t have done the same if the electors of this fine borough had seen fit to put their trust in you and your mates last May.
  11. As an aside - how much does EDPH pay its staff compared with PeckhamPlex? No idea what the answer is but I?d venture a guess - despite the grief that has been dished out to one compared to the ?independent? other. Happy to receive informed advice to the contrary of course.
  12. As Mr Barber refers to his Liberal Democrat affiliation in a signature and attacks the Labour Council in Southwark, I thought it might be interesting to compare the situation here with that in Liberal Democrat controlled Kingston upon Thames. They already charge for garden waste collections via a wheelie bin to the tune of ?72 per financial year for a fortnightly service. They also charge for bulk waste collections: ?35 for up to 4 items and ?55 for between 5 and 8 items. So let?s not pretend that these decisions are being taken in isolation by Southwark without anything similar (or indeed, twice as expensive) being introduced in other boroughs. I assume that Mr Barber wouldn?t argue that Kingston upon Thames has become a bonfire-choked, fly-tipped wasteland, akin to his dystopian view of Southwark?s future, since Kingston upon Thames introduced their, relatively exorbitant, charges?
  13. There was a Hannah Walker who was Editor of the South London Press for a long time. Her current email address is, afaik: [email protected]
  14. snoopy17 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > how do you get tickets for an 8 year old? are they > just let in with a paying adult? Yes they are. With regard to your earlier question regarding advance sale of tickets for the Chelmsford City game, they are now on sale from the bar from 6pm every evening:
  15. Eastdulwich2015 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Well done James you worked so hard to get this for > us. Sad that Tessa isn?t here to see it; she did > so much for North Charter. Tessa did an enormous amount to secure a home for Charter East Dulwich on the Dulwich Hospital site - including having to unravel an unholy mess created by the former LibDem councillor who now appears to want to take the entire credit for the whole project. Here?s the relevant thread. Judge for yourselves who put in the hard work to remove the threat of a planned primary school from the site (which would have had a catchment area in Nunhead) and which put the secondary school plans in jeopardy: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1407450,page=1 At Tessa?s memorial service two of the main community campaigners for the new secondary school appeared in a film played prior to the service, praising Tessa?s contribution to the project. Neither they nor she are mentioned in the self-congratulatory piece of tendentious brass-neckery above (5th post of this current thread). I apologise if this comes across as angry but, if it does, it has the benefit of accurately reflecting how I feel. I thought a lot about responding but, for once, I thought it would be wrong to allow such bunkum from the previously referenced former councillor to go unchallenged. The thread linked to above is long but it is educational. For obvious reasons, none of the links to attachments on Tessa?s contributions remain active.
  16. Yep. There?s replica kit, although not in all sizes. Also the bar scarves may be back in stock at the match tonight. If the delivery arrives today as expected.
  17. Further to the above: Online ticket sales will end at 3pm. Turnstiles and bars open from 5.30pm. Remember it?s a 7pm kick-off.
  18. Dulwich Hamlet FC facing a tough October. After FA Cup results went against us on Saturday, our only home match in October will now take place tonight, Thursday 11th October, against a strong Crystal Palace team including first team players, managed by Roy Hodgson. We really need every Dulwich Hamlet fan who can to turn out for what should be a great match during the week-long break from Premier League and Senior League football. So please come along - and spread the word amongst your friends, family and workmates. The match will take place at 7pm tonight at Imperial Fields, Bishopsford Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 6BF Tickets are available on the gate or in advance from here: https://www.seetickets.com/tour/dulwich-hamlet-v-crystal-palace-xi Directions of how to get to the ground are available from the Tooting and Mitcham FC website here: http://www.tmu-fc.co.uk/location.html If you are unable to make it to the game please consider helping by buying a ticket anyway or, better still, make a donation to the Dulwich Hamlet FC 12th Man scheme via this link: https://www.paypal.me/dhfc12 - you don?t need to have a PayPal account to contribute. Looking forward to seeing lots of you this evening!
  19. Dulwich Hamlet FC have drawn Eastbourne Borough away in the FA Cup 3rd Qualifying round - this Saturday 6th October. The coach, organised by the Supporters' Trust, will leave at 11.30am from Champion Hill. We are advised that it will arrive at around 2pm. The bar at Eastbourne will be open to Hamlet fans. Pricing: ?20 Adults ?15 Concessions ?10 for accompanied teenagers (13-19) ?5 for accompanied under 13?s The game on Saturday is an important one to win for the financial health of the club. A win would give the club prize money of ?15,000, a share of the gate money and the chance of another money-spinning tie in the 4th qualifying round - the last one before the 1st Round Proper. It would give us - by a long way ? our biggest matchday income this season at a time when the club really needs all the help it can get with crowds having dropped off since we have had to play 'home' games at Tooting and Mitcham FC. We want to help as many people to attend the game as possible. The team undoubtedly responds well to a good away contingent - as those who went to the Woking game witnessed recently with a memorable win over the league leaders. So please do give the coach a try on Saturday and/or encourage others to do so - it's good fun and you might be able to say that you helped the Hamlet through to the next round! You can sign up by posting below on here or just send a private message and we?ll follow up or - probably better - email us at: [email protected] Thanks for your time. DC (Dulwich Hamlet Supporters' Trust Co-Chair)

  23. snathani Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yes and I think T&M have offered the useof their ground next season too. That?s correct, but on the understanding that Dulwich Hamlet would be able to return to Champion Hill at short notice, should the opportunity arise. T&M have been a great friend to the Hamlet at this difficult time. There is only one ?home? game remaining at T&M in the regular season - on Saturday 28th April against Margate. DHFC have four league games remaining and they are likely to be involved in play-off games on Thursday 3rd and (hopefully) Monday 7th May. These are over one leg only with home advantage being determined by the final position of teams placed 2nd to 5th in the league. Dulwich have already qualified for the play-offs but, obviously, the final league positions remain to be determined.
