Yes that's been my reasoning too.

I'm curious to have a further read and see what the actual conclusions are on the effects of television on under-2s. Violent TV --even cartoon violence-- has certainly been very well-documented to have lots of negative effects on children of all ages.

I've read some research a few years back, suggesting that excessive TV watching from an early age is associated with ADD/ADHD, but such studies show correlation rather than causation. You also have to be of the camp that ADD/ADHD actually IS a disorder. Whereas, some psychologists and evolutionary biologists have suggested that it is a different brain type, not a disorder.

I've also seen the research showing that excessive TV watching in gradeschool children is related to obesity. I would hazzard a guess this is true for the under-2s as well.

Hey pass the biscuits, Adderall, and TV remote... and that's just for me!

(Edited to say that I'm not fat and I don't have ADD/ADHD... hmmmm maybe I'm not watching enough TV? ;-) What's on iPlayer tonight? :) )

I am loving this book, am up to the bit about marriages and how/why they suffer after baby comes, interesting stat about sleep deprivation, after a week of moderate deprivation one can experience a 91percent drop in ability to regulate emotions and a similarly dramatic drop in cognitive ability...

    • erm, I did read, I referenced and I posted - what is your point?
    • Try and read before commenting Sep, or you will, as you have done, not be relevant
    • if anyone believes Reform is a party they can trust then they really don't need to be insulted by me - they are doing all the damage themselves If people don't like the state the country is in they should question why Farage fought for Brexit and why it continues to damage the country so much. He and you will splutter it wasn't done properly but if you can't see the contradictions I can't help you
    • It's not incredibly difficult to understand that people vote Reform because they don't want the Tories back and they don't like Labour and they don't like the state the country is in. It hardly makes them "criminally negligent" - in fact, Sepiroth,  you can just stop insulting people just because you don't like what they have to say - it doesn't really add to your credibility. While Sep says "What the country needs is a serious, mature electorate", what the country REALLY needs is a party that we can trust - and that we do not have.  There is no point at all in having a serious and mature electorate if we don't have a serious and mature party to get vote for.
