Brilliant & oh so true. How is it that my husband didn't get the super-hearing that I developed (seemingly over night with the birth of number 1) where the children are concerned? He has just never heard them. It would drive me mad when with number 2 (a terrible night sleeper - entirely my own fault and another story completely) I'd be up & down like a yoyo all night, only to have lovely husband ping awake at 7a.m.ish saying "well that was a good night wasn't it?" Ggrrrrr (6)

That is soo true - 'cept for me a couple of additions:

- baby would regularly be on the floor if not 'trapped' by another pillow

- eldest daughter usually comes in too (with at least a couple of needle-sharp Barbies)

- I end up with my head jammed against the bedside table (if not on it)

- I get fed up and sleep in one of the girls' beds

- they then follow me there...

Dad sleeps in big bed ALL BY HIMSELF

I'm three to a single bed (particularly love the baby with legs on her head - why oh why is that so frequent?) :)

Have to admit that in our house the opposite is true - our youngest is 3 and sometimes wakes in the night for the toilet/drink/monster elimination and I never hear her :-$ So it's me waking up in the morning thinking we had a brilliant quiet night, and Mr Pickle with bags under his eyes. Oops.

    • It’s a flat fee levy payable by guests staying in hotel and hostel rooms, so added to the bill.  This already happens in Manchester and Liverpool ( I think in Liverpool it’s a percentage, so the more expensive rooms pay more). I read somewhere that Edinburgh is doing this next year? Charges of this kind are becoming common around the world. I think it absolutely makes sense for Southwark and other boroughs are bound to follow.
