Hi, your posting prompted me to actually look at the stats

http://www.met.police.uk/crimefigures/datatable.php?ward=00begr&borough=md&period=year

for Peckham Rye ward. Overall crime is down. Some crimes are up and some are down. I've been living in ED for 5 years with my family and we feel happy and safe. Doesn't mean we don't take sensible precautions but we are not unduly worried about our safety.

Alec

When I was moving here about three years ago I stumbled across this forum and thought the same. The thing is, it's true that because we have the forum we do hear about muggings etc, which we would know nothing about otherwise, as is the case in other areas. Don't worry, nothing has ever happened to me here and I love it. You need to be on your guard at times and as others have said, take sensible precautions but that really is the case pretty much anywhere these days. It's totally normal for alarm bells to ring when you read this forum though! Ignore any sarcastic replies.

Good luck with your move and enjoy the area.the good points far, far outweigh any of the bad.

    • I thought the most they sell in terms of hot food at londis is like pastries and sausage rolls and for hot drinks its like costa coffee but its always a convenience store. Doesn’t look too bad in my opinion considering that shop has been closed down ever since i moved here
    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
    • GP not willing to refer you on? Say, to King's or similar. Odd
