Dry January, anyone? I'm looking for a buddy to keep up morale...

I think one drink night/week is very sensible - and certainly more of a long-term proposition than complete abstinence. But I'm killing two birds with one stone here - if I swear off alcohol for most of the month, I also limit my nights out, which benefits my pitiful post-Christmas bank balance as well as my liver!

And as you say, the other main benefit is it 'resets' your system - it gets you out the habit of mindlessly pouring a glass of wine in the evening when you're at home and don't really need it. That's got to be a good thing.

Thank God February is here and we can move on, Nice bottle of Ubu Purity in front of me to help me get through Question Time. My only drink this evening.

Not trivialising the problems with alcohol, but a few of us here wont change things. We have a society (and an economy) that encourages binge drinking. And let the kids back in pubs where there an element of control, including the relatively high costs.

Nice beer and even better that it is not an over-hopped fizzy cold craft ale made by a company in Hoxton owned by a massive global company

    • I thought the most they sell in terms of hot food at londis is like pastries and sausage rolls and for hot drinks its like costa coffee but its always a convenience store. Doesn’t look too bad in my opinion considering that shop has been closed down ever since i moved here
    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
    • GP not willing to refer you on? Say, to King's or similar. Odd
