Erm, so following on from HonaB...

SNOT

Sorry, I meant SNET

( that is a word right ? )

:-S

I just bemoan the lack of ambition.

We had 5 letter words.

Where did we go next in reaching for the stars and the Countdown Conundrum? Was it six, or even (dare I say it) seven letter words?

No, in the most breathtaking act of bathos ever witnessed on this forum, on this planet even, it was four mimsy little letters. I could do four letter words before I was four.

We landed on the moon, people!

edited because landing on moonpeople would probably hurt them

Please don't do that *Bob*, you contribute a lot to the forum.

Not wishing to insult anyone for starting a thread (of course its up to you and people can ignore ones they don't like) but....

I do think there was a collective groan to see yet another thread on a variation of 'change a letter'. I'm sure the response would be the same if someone started an equally similar thread on football or computer games, for example.

I know that you can ignore threads but imagine what the Lounge would be like if the majority of subjects were of repetitive stuff eg. 5 threads about football, 4 wordgames and 3 on golf and the same people posting on them intermittently. I don't think that anything else would have much of a chance to evolve if that were the case (in my opinion anyway).

Don't worry Katie, noone else can read this, just between you and me.

But don't take anything *Bob* has to say at face value.......ever.....It's all just his misanthropic way of getting back at the world for his hideous countenance and crushing inability to relate to people in the real world. It's genuinely tragic.

    • Missing Cat! 11 months old/ Our friend, Coco, has gone missing. Last seen evening of 31st October near top of Henslowe rd where it meets Underhill Rd in SE22. We know she has started wandering up Friern Rd and further we guess but we imagine she has been spooked by Halloween / Fireworks goings on. She is a grey Siberian mix with some brown stripes down her, very friendly and likes to eat. Please let us know
    • That said, organised displays could be on Saturday before and after and the actual day, and private ones could just not have the loud ones.  It’s all down to accessibility and people caring/not caring
    • The problem this year is that 5th November falls on a Wednesday. So some places will be bringing their "bonfire night" forward to Saturday 1st and some will be knocking it back to Saturday 8th and there'll probably be a few that just go with Wednesday 5th anyway. If you're doing a public display, having it on a weekend gets more crowds. Which basically means a solid week of fireworks.
    • Fireworks in this area do feel totally incessant at this time of year, almost every evening there is terrible noise. I feel great concern for wildlife, pets (I have a senior cat who hates them), as well as people who struggle with PTSD etc. Last year I even had people setting them off in front of my home. Tonight and yesterday evening have been particularly bad. Is there anything we can do as a community to prevent this? What action can we take? Surely we shouldn’t be expected to just put up with it every year for weeks on end!
